2025 Fantasy Outlook
Whittington wasn't a prolific receiver at Texas, nor a standout during pre-draft testing, but he nonetheless built up some hype last summer after the Rams made him a sixth-round pick. Reports out of training camp suggested he was far ahead of the typical learning curve for a Day 3 pick -- a sentiment that was reinforced when he put up 126 receiving yards in two preseason games. Whittington was fourth or fifth on the depth chart for most of his rookie year, but when injuries to teammates opened up a starting job he responded with 13 catches for 151 yards on 18 targets in Weeks 4-5. He barely played for the next three months, apart from kickoff returns, before resurfacing Week 18 when the Rams rested starters and again putting up a strong stat line (3-86-0 receiving, plus two carries for 12 yards). Whittington's impressive production on a per-snap basis, along with his strength and physicality, suggest he may be the successor to Cooper Kupp in the slot for Los Angeles. The problem in terms of 2025 fantasy value is that the Rams have WRs Puka Nacua and Davante Adams locked in as their top two pass catchers, leaving Whittington and Tutu Atwell to compete for a No. 3 role that won't necessarily entail a lot of targets. Dealing with back issue
Whittington was deemed limited for Monday's practice walkthrough due to a back injury, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Whittington logged a season-low four offensive snaps Sunday against Detroit, though it's unclear if that was a consequence of the back issue. He maintained his usual role as the Rams' lead kick returner, so Whittington's reduced offensive role may have simply been a result of Tutu Atwell returning from IR and Konata Mumpfield continuing to take on a larger role. Regardless, Whittington's practice participation level Tuesday and Wednesday should determine if he's at any risk of missing Thursday's big NFC West matchup against the Seahawks.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
A rookie sixth-round pick out of Texas, Whittington entered the college ranks with a long list of accolades, but a myriad of injuries sapped much of the potential lurking in the wings. The wideout played in only 39 games in four collegiate seasons, and his stats were middling (139-1,740-5), but the Rams are thin at wide receiver beyond Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua and Demarcus Robinson. As a result, a path to reps as a rookie isn't out of the realm of possibility. Whittington did suffer a hamstring injury just before the NFL Combine, so long-term health is the biggest roadblock to finding a role as a backup in Year 1.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
More snaps with Adams injury?
Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reported Saturday that Davante Adams is expected to play through an oblique injury against the Seahawks on Sunday, but Whittington and other Rams wide receivers could see increased roles on offense if Adams operates on a snap count.
ANALYSIS
Adams tweaked his oblique during the fourth quarter of the Rams' Week 9 win over the 49ers, though head coach Sean McVay relayed after the game that the veteran wideout would have returned had the score been closer. Even so, Adams could have his snaps limited to third and fourth downs and red-zone opportunities, which would result in more offensive snaps being available for Whittington, Xavier Smith and Konata Mumpfield. Whittington has accumulated 12 catches on 17 targets for 121 yards along with three carries for 12 yards through nine regular-season games, though he hasn't been targeted by Matthew Stafford in each of the Rams' last two games.
