Jordan Addison

24-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
Minnesota Vikings
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Addison averaged 13.0 and 14.2 PPR points in his first two NFL seasons, before nosediving to 9.7 per game in 2025 when QB J.J. McCarthy laid waste to Minnesota's perennially productive offense. Addison did himself no favors with seven drops, tied for fourth-most among WRs, while also finishing with career-worst marks for targets per game (5.6), target rate (17.5 percent), catch rate (53.2 percent) and yards per route (1.45). As a downfield-oriented receiver, Addison unsurprisingly proved highly vulnerable to poor QB play, though it's not like Justin Jefferson or T.J. Hockenson fared much better (relative to their respective baselines). The good news for Addison is that he's just 24 years old and will get a new QB to work with, presumably catching passes from Kyler Murray to start the year. Murray may not be as fantasy-friendly for pass catchers as Kirk Cousins and Sam Darnold were, but the former Cardinal should at least do a better job than McCarthy of sustaining drives and delivering catchable passes. The Vikings reportedly intend to pick up their fifth-year option on Addison's rookie contract, keeping him under team control for 2027 at a projected cost of $18 million. For the immediate future, Addison is locked in as Minnesota's No. 2 receiver, with his fantasy value dependent on Murray's downfield aggressiveness and accuracy. Read Past Outlooks

Fifth-year option made official
WRMinnesota Vikings
April 27, 2026
The Vikings exercised Addison's fifth-year option Monday.
ANALYSIS
Vikings EVP of football operations Rob Brzezinski said last month that the team would be making this move, and it's now official. Addison will earn $18 million in 2027 as a result. The 23rd overall pick in the 2023 Draft, Addison has shown flashes of big-time playmaking ability during his first three seasons, but he also was a victim of extremely poor quarterback play during the 2025 campaign. With Kyler Murray now in town to compete with J.J. McCarthy (hand), the Vikings are banking on more competency under center, which should obviously help Justin Jefferson and Addison produce better numbers in the box score.

2023
Addison's second pro season in 2024 ultimately looked a lot like his rookie campaign, featuring a high rate of big plays and touchdowns on about 6.5 targets per game. He looks very much worthy of the 23rd overall pick Minnesota spent on him, having instantly become an above-average No. 2 receiver despite being one of the younger players from his draft class (he turned 23 in January). The switch from Kirk Cousins to Sam Darnold didn't seem to bother Addison, who might've had his first 1,000-yard season if not for an ankle sprain that cost him two full games and parts of two others early in the year. His disappointing pre-draft 40 time (4.49) hasn't translated to a lack of explosiveness in the NFL, and while he's about as physical as one might expect of a thin wideout (5-11, 175), Addison has consistently performed well in an offense that has WR Justin Jefferson and TE T.J. Hockenson handling the types of routes and targets that require more physicality. The major concerns for Addison in 2025 are a three-game suspension -- to be served Weeks 1-3 -- and uncertainty about 22-year-old quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Addison's strong numbers in the second half of last season suggest he should be a viable fantasy starter from Week 4 onward, but that also depends on McCarthy keeping Kevin O'Connell's impressive offense rolling.
Addison got off to a fast start in the NFL, coming in as the 23nd overall pick last year after a college career with 3,134 yards and 29 touchdowns over three seasons. His slim build (5-11, 173) didn't seem like too much of a problem during his rookie year, and a mediocre 40 time (4.49) didn't prevent the former Pitt/USC star from earning a key role out of the gate. Addison scored TDs in his first two games and seven over the first eight weeks, averaging 4.5 catches for 60.3 yards on 6.5 targets in that stretch. Justin Jefferson's hamstring injury helped Addison see some extra passes during that time -- 23 targets Weeks 6-8 -- but things took a turn for the worse after Kirk Cousins suffered an Achilles' tear Week 8. While Addison got similar volume (6.2 targets per game), his efficiency numbers plummeted with backup QBs, including a 60.7 percent catch rate (compared to 69.2 in Cousins' starts) and 7.7 yards per target (9.3 with Cousins). Addison finished the year at 70-911-10 on 108 targets, ranking 18th among WRs in routes run (584) and 40th in aDOT (12.2). His per-route numbers were somewhat less impressive (18.5 percent target rate, 1.56 YPRR), though still quite good for a 21-year-old who played eight games with both Jefferson and TE T.J. Hockenson on the field. Hockenson may miss part of the upcoming year after a late-December ACL tear, but the bigger question is what happens next at QB, where rookie J.J. McCarthy out for the year after knee surgery and Sam Darnold is now locked in as the short-term replacement for Cousins. In addition to the concerns about Darnold, there's a good chance Addison is suspended at some point for an offseason DWI arrest, though that might not happen until 2025.
Addison is the next test case in a recent string of highly productive, undersized wide receivers. He put up 3,134 yards in three seasons at Pitt and USC, including a 100-1,593-17 receiving line in 2021 at Pitt, but his draft stock fell after the 2023 combine when he ran a 4.49 40 at 5-11, 173. Eagles WR DeVonta Smith has been successful with a similar build, but his college production was on another level beyond even Addison's and he's shown unusual strength for someone so slim. Then there's Arizona's Marquise Brown, who is similarly thin and shorter but also much faster than Addison. The Vikings bit at 23rd overall, making Addison the fourth WR selected after none went in the first 19 picks. He probably has the best situation of any rookie, joining a roster on which K.J. Osborn previously projected as the No. 2 WR after Adam Thielen's offseason departure. With Osborn primarily playing the slot and valued for versatility more so than his ability to beat man coverage, Addison could immediately become the No. 2 receiver in an offense that gets solid QB play out of Kirk Cousins and has Justin Jefferson drawing coverages to his side. The downside is that Addison will never be the No. 1 option in an offense that has Jefferson.

Making 2025 debut in Ireland
WRMinnesota Vikings
September 27, 2025
Addison is set to make his 2025 regular-season debut against the Steelers on Sunday in Dublin, Ireland, Brooke Pryor of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The NFL suspended Addison for the first three games of the regular season due to violating the league's Substances of Abuse Policy. The 2023 first-rounder's suspension has been lifted, and his return will help open up the Vikings' offense and open things up for Justin Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson in the passing game. Addison is coming off a strong sophomore campaign in which he logged 63 catches on 99 targets for 875 yards and nine touchdowns across 15 regular-season games.
