Fernandez ended year three on a high, coming off his best statistical season and helping Chelsea secure a European trophy. He posted a career-best six goals and seven assists, showing clear growth in the attack. He also took a larger role of set pieces, something that seems to change by the game with Chelsea. When pushed forward in the formation, his numbers received a notable boost, but as long as he's a defensive midfielder next to Moises Caicedo, his numbers may never truly pop more than the 13 goal contributions he had last season.

                  Scores penalty Wednesday
Fernandez scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and two corners in Wednesday's 5-1 victory against Ajax.
                  ANALYSIS
Fernandez returned to the pitch Wednesday after missing Saturday's Premier League match with a knee injury. He played well in his return and converted a penalty in the 45th minute, his first Champions League goal of the season. It was the only shot he took in the match and he also created two chances. He was subbed off at halftime for Andrey Santos, an unsurprising move considering he was returning from injury and his side was already up 4-1 at home.

                  Real Madrid monitoring status
Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on Fernandez, according to TBR Football.
                  ANALYSIS
Real Madrid have been keeping tabs on Fernandez for quite some time, although it's hard to see a scenario in which Chelsea will be open to parting ways with the 24-year-old Argentina international. Fernandez is one of the club's captains, and he's an integral piece of the team's long-term project. Real Madrid are expected to launch an offer in the summer of 2026, but it'd take a mammoth effort for the Blues to even consider it.
