2026 Projections
Projected to be Maye's top backup
With the Patriots slated to release Joshua Dobbs, DeVito now is the team's projected No. 2 QB, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
DeVito, who worked as New England's No. 3 signal-caller last season behind Dobbs and starter Drake Maye, signed a two-year deal to remain with the team earlier this month. Per Reiss, the base value of DeVito's new contract is $4.4 million and includes incentives that could increase its value to $7.4 million. Though the 27-year-old didn't see any regular-season action in 2025, he did log a total of eight starts during his two seasons (2023 and 2024) with the Giants. With Dobbs no longer in the mix, look for the Patriots to add QB depth as the offseason progresses, possibly via next month's draft.

DeVito got some chances to start during his first two NFL campaigns, including twice last season. His 70 percent completion rate was fine, but he averaged just 5.8 YPA with zero touchdowns. DeVito's previous looks came due to a lack of depth and talent in New York's QB room, but that shouldn't be an issue this season with the additions of veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston along with first-round rookie Jaxson Dart. It's hard to find a scenario in which DeVito sees much action for the Giants.

Another big-name QB joins roster
DeVito is now sharing the Giants' quarterback depth chart with both Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
DeVito has gone from being the sole quarterback on the roster less than a week ago to sharing the room with a one-time first overall pick and a Super Bowl winner in Winston and Wilson, respectively. The depth chart will get exponentially more intriguing if the Giants still opt to select Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders with their first-round pick in April's draft, but in such a scenario, DeVito could conceivably have an advantage over a veteran like Winston due to the former's minuscule $1.030 million cap hit for next season.
