Draft slide ends in Tampa Bay
LBTampa Bay Buccaneers
April 23, 2026
The Buccaneers selected Bain in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 15th overall.
ANALYSIS
Bain (6-foot-2, 263 pounds) is likely an example of a player whose skill set grade is stronger than his athleticism grade. Bain was utterly dominant at Miami (FL), yet there is concern that his light frame and extremely short arms (30 and 7/8 inches) could make the jump in competition hard on his game. If Bain's arms don't hold him back, though, then he should be one of the better defensive ends in the league, and his addition addressees an area of need (edge rusher) for the Buccaneers. Bain was a dominant starter for each of his three years at Miami, including a 2025 junior season where he posted 9.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss.

Football IQ already evident
LBTampa Bay Buccaneers
July 3, 2026
Bain, whom the Buccaneers selected 15th overall out of the University of Miami in the 2026 NFL Draft, made an impression on head coach Todd Bowles this offseason with his maturity and football IQ, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. "For me, it is his intelligence, his understanding of the game," Bowles said. "There are some things that you cannot teach, and he does not learn like a normal rookie, and he does some things that a three- or four-year guy can do."
ANALYSIS
The talented edge rusher's physical skills that made him so appealing to the Buccaneers have also been on display, as Laine reports Bain's power, bend, leverage and speed off the edge have all been evident as well. However, as he demonstrated in the first team period of the first day of mandatory minicamp with a knockdown of a Baker Mayfield throw outside the pocket, Bain also has very good instincts and awareness. The former Hurricane collected 20.5 sacks across 38 collegiate games, adding four forced fumbles and an interception to his well-rounded pre-NFL resume.
