                2025 Fantasy Outlook

Mitchell seems to be a forgotten man, at least in fantasy circles, despite being drafted 52nd overall last spring after running a 4.34 40-yard dash at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. He spent most of his rookie year as the Colts' No. 4 wide receiver, behind fellow Day 2 picks Michael Pittman, Josh Downs and Alec Pierce. The rookie drew targets on 28.2 percent of his routes, but he caught only 41.8 percent of those chances -- by far the lowest rate among players with 50-plus targets. QB Anthony Richardson was part of the problem, and a 14.7 aDOT further helps to explain Mitchell's terrible catch rate, but there were also a couple drops and a handful of other missed connections on which the wideout appeared at fault. And while it won't come as any surprise if Mitchell improves in his second season, he's still subject to most of the same limiting conditions outside of his control, facing fierce competition for snaps and targets in an offense with Richardson and/or Daniel Jones slinging passes. No receptions in Week 8 win
Mitchell failed to haul in his lone target while playing nine of the Colts' 53 snaps on offense in Sunday's 38-14 win over the Titans.
				ANALYSIS
Since making a much-publicized mental error in Week 4 when he erased a would-be 76-yard receiving touchdown by dropping the ball prior to crossing the goal line in the third quarter of a loss to the Rams, Mitchell has seen his playing time get cut significantly. The return of Alec Pierce from a two-game absence was a contributing factor, but Mitchell has also been bypassed for the No. 4 spot on the depth chart at receiver by Ashton Dulin, who has out-snapped Mitchell in three of the past four weeks. With all of Indianapolis' key receivers back to full health, Mitchell doesn't appear likely to get another chance at logging extensive playing time anytime soon.

This Week's Opposing Pass Defense

How does the Steelers pass defense compare to other NFL teams this season?

The bars represents the team's percentile rank (based on QB Rating Against). The longer the bar, the better their pass defense is. The team and position group ratings only include players that are currently on the roster and not on injured reserve. The list of players in the table only includes defenders with at least 3 attempts against them.

The Colts used the 52nd pick in the 2024 draft on Mitchell, a combine standout who was never his team's top receiver in college. He had just 560 yards in two seasons at Georgia behind WR Ladd McConkey and TE Brock Bowers, before coming into his own at Texas in 2023 with a 55-845-11 receiving line on 92 targets (28 fewer looks than first-round pick Xavier Worthy). There was talk of Mitchell sneaking into the first round after the 2024 Combine, where he had the longest broad jump (136 inches) and third-fastest 40 time (4.34 second) among wide receivers -- while checking in at 6-2, 205. Physically, he's the prototype for a No. 1 receiver, and with plenty of upside for continued development given that he'll turn 22 in October. He figures to replace Alec Pierce as the deep threat alongside Michael Pittman and slot man Josh Downs, with the Colts obviously hoping Mitchell won't be as one-dimensional as Pierce (though it might take some time). Big-time volume in Year 1 is unlikely, as the Colts still have Pittman locked in for a large target share and figure to run a lot with QB Anthony Richardson and RB Jonathan Taylor.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
    Blunders cost Indy two TDs
Mitchell made two costly plays that took two touchdowns off the board for the Colts in what ended up being a 27-20 loss to the Rams in Week 4, Saad Yousuf and James Boyd of The Athletic report.
				ANALYSIS
Mitchell made a spectacular catch along the sidelines early in the third quarter. However, what should have been a 76-yard touchdown turned into a disaster after the second-year wideout lost control of the ball right before crossing into the end zone, which resulted in a touchback for the Rams when it went out the back of the end zone. Mitchell made another costly mistake in the fourth quarter, when he was called for a holding penalty that negated a 53-yard touchdown run for Jonathan Taylor that would've given the Colts the lead. Even with those errors, Mitchell should continue to see increased work on offense if Alec Pierce is unable to clear the league's concussion protocol ahead of the Colts' Week 5 clash against the Raiders on Sunday, Oct. 5.
