Reynolds is joining the Jets alongside head coach Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, who were part of Detroit's coaching staff when Reynolds played there from 2021 to 2023. Reynolds was a useful depth piece with 608 receiving yards and five TDs for the Lions in 2023, but he had just 194 yards in nine games split between the Broncos and Jaguars in 2024. He could carve out decent playing time in the Jets' underwhelming WR room, but the 30-year-old Reynolds' best football is likely behind him. Lands on injured reserve
The Jets placed Reynolds (hip) on injured reserve Saturday.
				ANALYSIS
Reynolds appeared on Friday's injury report due to a hip injury. Not only has he been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bengals, but the injury is severe enough to warrant a stint on IR for the veteran wide receiver. Reynolds will be required to miss at least the next four games, which makes Week 13 against the Falcons on Sunday, Nov. 30 the earliest he is eligible to return. With Reynolds on IR and Garrett Wilson (knee) ruled out for Week 8, the Jets' wide receiver corps will consist of Arian Smith, Allen Lazard, Tyler Johnson, Isaiah Williams and Brandon Smith.

Reynolds signed with the Broncos in free agency. If Tim Patrick is unable to return to form after missing the last two seasons with injuries and rookie Troy Franklin isn’t ready to take on a major role, Reynolds could earn a starting outside receiver role. Reynolds had the second 600-yard season of his career and tied his career high of five touchdowns in 2023. However, the receiver was much better early in the season. During the first seven games, Reynolds posted at least 43 yards six times. The veteran fell off down the stretch. Even ifReynolds holds onto a starting role, he is unlikely to perform better in Denver than he did in Detroit, where the offense was much better.

    Clear leader for WR2 spot
Reynolds is the clear-cut leader for the second spot on the Jets' wide receiver depth chart, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com.
				ANALYSIS
Reynolds' strong performance in OTAs and minicamp has earned him some separation from the rest of the pack in the competition for the starting spot across from Garrett Wilson. Reynolds struggled in 2024 while splitting time between the Broncos and Jaguars, though arm and head wounds sustained due to a shooting may have affected his on-field performance. Back to full health, the 30-year-old wide receiver is making a push for a prominent role under new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn, who is familiar with Reynolds from their time together in Detroit.
