Ready to face Jhonata Diniz
HeavyweightUFC
Out
April 7, 2025
Tafa will take on Jhonata Diniz in a heavyweight bout at UFC 317 on June 28, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Tafa lost to Tallison Teixeira via TKO (strikes) at 0:35 of Round 1 at UFC 312 on Feb. 8 this year, but he lasted only 35 seconds in that fight, so he'll aim to deliver a better showing in this one. Diniz is also coming off a loss -- the first of his career -- so both fighters will be looking for revenge in this one. Tafa is now 4-5 (1 NC) in his first 10 UFC bouts, but based on his resume, he doesn't look like the odds-on favorite ahead of this matchup versus Diniz.

Tafa lost to Tallison Teixeira via TKO (strikes) at 0:35 of Round 1 at UFC 312 on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.
ANALYSIS
There's not much to break down here from a technical standpoint. Tafa managed to stuff an immediate takedown attempt but was forced up against the fence in the process. He ate one huge elbow which forced him to his knees and a few follow-up shots ended the show. Tafa was upset with the stoppage of referee Rich Mitchell, but he was turtled up and not responding. Tafa is now 4-5 (1 NC) in his first 10 UFC bouts, with the victories coming over Austen Lane, Parker Porter, Harry Hunsucker and Juan Adams. There's absolutely nothing to see here.

Tafa is set to face off against Tallison Teixeira at UFC 312 on Feb. 8, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Tafa will face off against newcomemer Teixeira in February after pulling out of his bout against Kennedy Nzechukwu at UFC 308. The 30-year-old Australian, who stands a mere 6-foot tall, will have a tough matchup with the 24-year-old who stands at a whopping 6-foot-7, a giant among heavyweights.

Tafa (undisclosed) has withdrawn from his scheduled fight against Kennedy Nzechukwu at UFC 308, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unknown why Tafa is no longer able to participate in the event, but he'll now have to wait even longer for another chance at his first victory since September 2023. Chris Barnett will take Tafa's place against Nzechukwu.

Tafa will fight Kennedy Nzechukwu at UFC 308 on October 26 in place of Marcos Rogerio de Lima, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
De Lima was dropped from the fight for unspecified reasons, and rather than taking the scheduled bout off the card altogether, Tafa was chosen as a replacement. The 6-foot Kiwi will head into the bout hoping to bounce back after a decision loss to Karl Williams in March. Tafa will give up a sizable height and reach advantage against Nzechukwu and will undoubtedly be hoping for an early finish, as he holds an impressive 7-1 professional record in KO/TKO finishes, as opposed to his less-than-stellar 0-3 record in decisions.
