Despite being 33 years old, Schenn has been a staple among the Blues' top-six forwards as long as he's been there. He posted another solid season in 2024-25 with 18 goals and 32 assists and enjoyed his first season with a positive rating (plus-3) in three seasons. Perhaps troubling is that it was his first season with fewer than 20 goals in three years. However, under new head coach Jim Montgomery, Schenn discovered the power forward game that has made him an effective player in the past. He finished with 194 hits on the season, which could signal a stylistic shift in his game, as with young players like Jimmy Snuggerud and Dylan Holloway coming in, it has pushed Schenn down the pecking order. Now a middle-six forward and second power-play contributor, Schenn may have trouble filling the back of the net at the same rate going forward. Nets opening goal
Schenn scored a goal, put two shots on net and served five PIM in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Red Wings.
				  ANALYSIS
Schenn found the back of the net in a hurry, tallying the first goal of the game less than one minute into regulation. The 34-year-old center is up to two goals, five points, 13 shots and 28 hits through 10 appearances this season. With points in each of his last two games, he is on his first point streak of the season. He should continue to see an increased role while Robert Thomas (upper body) is out of the lineup.

Schenn had 20 goals and 46 points in 82 contests in 2023-24, which represented his worst campaign since 2013-14 when measured by points per game. In terms of goals scored, his latest season was standard for him -- he's finished with at least 20 goals in eight of the past 11 campaigns -- but he struggled to collect assists, especially at even strength. It also hurt Schenn that the Blues struggled offensively last year, tying for 24th with 2.85 goals per contest, giving him less to work with than the season prior. It wouldn't be surprising to see the 33-year-old do at least a bit better this year by exceeding the 50-point mark.
