Martin was selected by the Predators with the fifth overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft after an impressive 2024-25 campaign with OHL Soo in which he recorded 33 goals, 39 assists and 68 PIM over 57 regular-season appearances. He had an opportunity to compete for a roster spot during training camp and made a strong impression, ultimately earning an Opening Night roster spot in a top-six capacity. Martin will attempt to provide a spark for a Predators team that had one of the worst offenses in the NHL last year, averaging just 2.59 goals per game, which was the second-worst mark in the league. He has some fantasy appeal as a waiver-wire pickup if he can make an impact at the NHL level, but he also carries some risk since he could be sent down if he experiences growing pains. The hard-working center had one helper in three games while in Nashville, and it's possible the 18-year-old rejoins the big club if the Greyhounds' campaign ends early enough.
