2025 Fantasy Outlook
A career journeyman, Duclair underwhelmed in his first season with the Islanders -- he was limited to seven goals, 11 points, 60 shots on goal and a minus-15 rating over 44 appearances. Having been sidelined with a long-term lower-body injury early in the year in conjunction with New York’s overall team struggles, it’s difficult to put all the blame on the left-shot forward for his down season. Just two years removed from a 42-point campaign, Duclair is talented enough to make depth contributions for your fantasy squad, but he’s merely a late-round dart throw on draft day. Keep an eye on his roles during the season, though, as he could be a staple in the top six and with one of the power-play units. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Duclair tapped in a pass through the slot to push the Islanders up 2-0 early in the second period. He has battled consistency issues early in the season, contributing only two goals and one assist through eight games.

After signing a four-year, $14 million deal with the Islanders this offseason, Duclair will find himself suiting up for his ninth NHL franchise, and second in New York after starting his career with the Rangers. The 2023-24 campaign was a bounce-back year for the speedy winger, as he garnered 24 goals and 18 assists in 73 regular-season games for the Sharks and Lightning. It was Duclair's fourth 20-goal season in his 10-year NHL career - a threshold that could be difficult to meet playing with the defensively-minded Islanders. Still, Duclair is projected to fill a top-line role with Bo Horvat and Mathew Barzal, which certainly could position him to put up points this year.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Skating with game group
Duclair, who is dealing with an upper-body injury, was on the ice with the game group ahead of Friday's preseason matchup with New Jersey, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Duclair was limited to just 44 games due to a groin injury last season, which saw him register a mere 11 points, including three power-play goals. If the 30-year-old winger can stay healthy this year, he should be capable of pushing for both the 20-goal and 40-point thresholds. While line combinations are likely to be fluid to open the season, Duclair should be able to secure a top-six role while seeing minutes with the man advantage.
