New lead back for NOLA
Etienne has agreed to terms Monday on a contract with the Saints, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Etienne becomes the clear No. 1 option in a New Orleans backfield that also houses incumbents Alvin Kamara (knee), Kendre Miller (ACL), Devin Neal (hamstring) and Audric Estime. The Louisiana native surpassed 1,000 rushing yards in three of the last four seasons as the leader of Jacksonville's rushing attack, and his combination of speed and three-down skills project as an ideal fit for Saints head coach Kellen Moore's offensive scheme. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Etienne's contract is a four-year, $52 million deal, a commitment that signals he likely will be utilized in a similar workhorse role to the one he attained down the stretch of his tenure with the Jaguars.

Etienne's 2024 season was a disaster, making him one of the biggest fantasy busts of the year. There might not be much to make of the season, though. The Jaguars' collapse under the stale direction of Doug Pederson and Press Taylor was memorable and rare – it isn't often that you see a team unable to execute basic operations like the Jaguars under Pederson in 2024. Schematically, there probably won't be much in common between the 2024 offense under Taylor and the 2025 version under Liam Coen. The burst of Bucky Irving became a primary theme in Coen's Tampa Bay offense, and while fellow Jaguars runner Tank Bigsby can provide power functions, it's clearly Etienne who more closely resembles Irving. Not just that, but Etienne has the speed to break even bigger runs than Irving might have in the same situation. The problem for this comparison pops up when you look at the Jacksonville offensive line, which is patchy at best. The Jaguars will need to get their trenches in order, and Etienne will need to stay healthy after playing through a hamstring tweak for an unspecified number of weeks in 2024. There's also some chance Coen becomes enamored with rookie fourth-round pick Bhayshul Tuten, whose 4.32 40 time makes him one of the few RBs in the league who is clearly faster than Etienne.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Top suitors include Chiefs, Broncos
Etienne is expected to garner interest from Kansas City and Denver in free agency, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
Etienne's three-down skill set appeals to the pair of AFC West contenders. He's expected to contend for the highest salary among free-agent running backs with Kenneth Walker, who may be a better pure runner than Etienne but isn't as reliable as a blocker and pass catcher. Fowler expects both running backs to get close to $12 million per year.
