Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Pearsall experienced a rather exaggerated version of the usual up-and-downs of an NFL rookie season. One of the older players in his draft class and mostly projected as a Day 2 pick, he instead went 31st overall to the 49ers last spring, buoyed by a fantastic showing at the 2024 Combine, where he ran a 4.41 40 and placed top three among WRs in the vertical jump and cone drill. The thinking was that Pearsall would push Jauan Jennings for the No. 3 job in 2024 before replacing Samuel in 2025. Instead, Pearsall got shot in the chest shortly before Week 1 and missed the first six games, while Jennings enjoyed a breakout season and Samuel simply failed to meet his usual standard. Once Pearsall made his NFL debut Week 7, the 49ers immediately lost Brandon Aiyuk to an ACL tear, paving the way for the rookie to put up 132 receiving yards and 39 rushing yards over his first three games (aided by Jennings missing a couple weeks). Pearsall caught just two passes over the next five games despite getting regular snaps as the No. 3 receiver, before coming on strong Weeks 16-18 with receiving lines of 4-37-0, 8-141-1 and 6-69-1. The strong finish coupled with a thin receiver room have Pearsall shaping up to be a Week 1 starter with plenty of fantasy upside in 2025. Read Past Outlooks

Practice status this week TBD
Coach Kyle Shanahan acknowledged Monday that he's unsure whether Pearsall (knee/ankle) will practice this week, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
The report notes that Pearsall, who also is dealing with a low ankle sprain, per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com, aggravated his PCL injury during Week 16 action, which clouds the wideout's status for next Monday's game against the Colts. If Pearsall ends up limited or sidelined, added snaps alongside Jauan Jennings would be available for Kendrick Bourne and Demarcus Robinson.

Pearsall seems to have the least fantasy hype among the wide receivers drafted in Round 1 or 2 this spring. That's probably fair if San Francisco keeps both Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, but fantasy managers would be wise to keep Pearsall in mind in case there's a trade or a major injury. While the former ASU and Florida wideout never had more than 965 receiving yards or five TDs in a season, he did lead his team in receiving each of his final three years. He also took 21 carries for 253 yards and five TDs during his career, which might help explain why the Niners drafted him at the same time trade rumors were swirling around Samuel. Pearsall is a totally different type of player at 6-1, 189, though also an excellent athlete who tore up a slew of drills at the 2024 Combine (4.41 40, 4.05 short shuttle, 6.64 cone drill, 42-inch vertical, 129-inch broad jump). On the other hand, he'll turn 24 in September and was 'good' more so than 'dominant' in college, suggesting he's a long shot to become a WR1 in the NFL. For now, Pearsall might not even be the third receiver in San Francisco, where Samuel, Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings all remain under contract.

May not play in Week 16
Pearsall may not be able to suit up in Week 16 against the Colts due to knee and ankle injuries, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While coach Kyle Shanahan hasn't yet ruled the second-year wideout out for the trip to Indianapolis, he did acknowledge Monday that "there is a concern" with regard to Pearsall's status. Pearsall is coming off a strong Week 15 performance in which he caught six of seven targets for 96 yards against the Titans, but he's already missed six of the 49ers' 14 games this season due to injuries.
