2026 Fantasy Outlook
Davis is a stout but slippery back who possesses a well-rounded skill set and three-down upside despite his modest workload behind starter James Cook. As much as it's true that Davis won't have much to do whenever Cook is healthy, Davis has seized his brief opportunities in the past and, crucial for handcuff targets, Davis has the ability to take up a workhorse role if Cook were to miss any time. While Ty Johnson might be the technical RB2 even ahead of Davis on the depth chart, Davis is likely the one who would be starter if Cook were absent, while Johnson's role would mostly stay the same as a pass-catching specialist. Johnson was never a volume starter even in college at Maryland, whereas Davis is a workhorse through and through. Read Past Outlooks

Continues to work behind Cook
As training camp approaches, Davis is on track to maintain his complementary role in a Buffalo backfield that returns starter James Cook as well as Ty Johnson, Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com reports.
ANALYSIS
During the 2025 regular season, Cook logged 309 carries (third in the NFL) for a league-high 1,621 rushing yards in 17 contests, a heavy workload that didn't leave much volume for either Davis (58 carries) or Ty Johnson (50 carries). With Cook entrenched as the Bills' lead back, Davis brings modest fantasy utility into 2026, but he remains a valuable backup who excels as a kick returner. If Cook were to miss time, Davis -- who racked up 151 rushing yards on 21 carries during a spot start in Week 18 last season -- would likely step in as the starter, with Johnson also in the mix.

2024
One might look at Davis' statistics from his 2024 rookie campaign and conclude he was ineffective compared to fellow Bills running backs James Cook and Ty Johnson, but the numbers don't tell the entire story. At 5-foot-9, 220, Davis is the power specialist of the trio, meaning he took on a lot of thankless work while Cook and Johnson got more touches in space. While Davis faced a light box on just 22.1 percent of his carries, Cook and Johnson checked in at 42.5 and 31.7 percent, respectively. Davis averaged just 3.9 yards per carry for the season, but he posted at least 4.3 YPC in each of his three games with double-digit carries -- and his 19 rookie-year targets yielded a 17-189-3 receiving line. He was especially impressive against the Jets in Week 6, gaining 152 yards on 23 touches (58 percent snap share) while Cook sat with a toe injury. As much as Cook is the clear RB1 in Buffalo, and as much as Johnson presses Davis' margins even further, it's arguably Davis who would be best suited to a workhorse role if injuries forced the team's hand at some point.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Clear RB2 if Johnson can't go
Davis could work as Buffalo's clear second-string running back against the Jaguars in the wild-card round Sunday, as Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports that Ty Johnson was a non-participant for a second consecutive practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Johnson could be unavailable for Buffalo's postseason opener, which would allow Davis to work as the top alternative to James Cook. During the regular season, Johnson had 74 touches to Davis' 68. Davis excelled in a larger role in Week 18, rushing for 151 yards and scoring a receiving touchdown against the Jets.
