He will provide the Commanders with depth at cornerback while Trey Amos (lower leg) works his way back from a fractured fibula suffered in Week 10 of the 2025 campaign.

A mid-season trade with Green Bay brought Douglas to Buffalo in 2023, and he played a key role in helping the Bills turn around their season. Overall, the 2017 third-rounder posted 61 tackles, 1.0 sacks, five interceptions, a pick-six and three fumble recoveries over 16 regular-season games split between the two teams. With Buffalo losing several key pieces this offseason, Douglas will remain a clear-cut starter in the team's secondary and locker room leader.
Douglas didn't find the end zone last year like he did twice in 2021, but he did set a career high for tackles (85) and picked off at least four passes for the second year in a row. Three of those came over the last eight games, a stretch in which Douglas played every snap with fellow corner Eric Stokes sidelined with a torn meniscus and a Lisfranc injury. Stokes may miss the start of the season, and Douglas will remain a starter if he does. However, he could find himself back in a part-time role when Stokes is ready to go.
As recently as October 5 of last year, Douglas was on the Cardinals' practice squad. However, after catching on with the Packers the next day and going on to finish tied for fourth in the league in interceptions - five in just 12 games - Douglas now finds himself among one of the top trios of corners in the league. Douglas had just five interceptions in his career before last season, so it will be no easy feat to match. However, with fellow corners Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes locking up opposing wideouts, teams may be forced to throw at Douglas, so he should have ample opportunities to get his hands on the ball.
Douglas played north of 800 defensive snaps in 14 games with the Panthers last season, but he'll face competition from Damon Arnette and Keisean Nixon for cornerback reps behind expected starters Trayvon Mullen and Casey Hayward in Las Vegas.

Catches on with Commanders
CBWashington Commanders
July 8, 2026
Douglas is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Commanders, Adam Schefter and Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN report.
ANALYSIS
The veteran cornerback's deal is worth up to $3.8 million, per Schefter. Douglas put in a productive one-season stint with the Dolphins in 2025, taking advantage of Week 1 injury to Storm Duck to enter the starting lineup and eventually establish himself as the team's top cornerback. Douglas garnered AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors following Week 14 and finished his 15-game 2025 campaign with 62 tackles and 13 defensed passes, both tying for the second-highest figures of his nine-year career.
