2026 Fantasy Outlook
Pitts’ true believers (or opportunists who bought low) were finally rewarded in a big way last year when the talented TE scored the second-most PPR points at his position. A huge December left him with an 88-928-5 line on 118 targets, highlighted by a 166-yard, three-TD outburst against the Buccaneers in Week 15. That standout game came while catching passes from the since-departed Kirk Cousins, who took over as Atlanta’s starting QB after Michael Penix tore his ACL in Week 11. Pitts set career highs in targets, catches and TDs in 2025, yet he still fell 98 yards short of his rookie yardage total from 2021, back when the hype train first left the station. The Falcons are bringing the 25-year-old back for his sixth NFL season on the franchise tag, and despite the team’s underwhelming QB room of Tua Tagovailoa and Penix, it could be a decent setup for Pitts' fantasy production, serving as Option C in an offense with not much else behind Option A (Bijan Robinson) and Option B (Drake London). Pitts remains a rarity, with 4.44 speed in a 6-foot-6 frame, which makes it puzzling that he mustered only 1,625 receiving yards and nine TDs over 44 games from 2022 through 2024. Managers who were burned by Pitts during that fallow stretch will remain skeptical, but he has the talent to stay relevant in fantasy even if he can't match last year's white-hot December. Locked in for 2026
Pitts signed his franchise tender with the Falcons for the 2026 season Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Pitts thus is locked in for the coming campaign at a salary of $15.045 million. After posting 1,026 receiving yards as a rookie first-round pick in 2021, the tight end has fallen short of 1,000 yards in each of his subsequent four seasons, but he bounced back last year with an 88-928-5 line on 118 targets in 17 regular-season games. Pitts' potential signal-callers for 2026 are Michael Penix (knee) and newcomer Tua Tagovailoa, who will be competing for the starting job during the offseason program through the preseason.

Pitts has consistently disappointed since setting expectations sky-high with 1,026 receiving yards as a rookie after the Falcons drafted him fourth overall in 2021. He had just 356 yards over 10 games in his second season, followed by 667 in 2023 and 602 in 2024 while playing all 17 games both years. If you’re looking for silver linings from his 2024 campaign, Pitts set a career high with four touchdowns (having started with one as a rookie and tacking another onto his total each year), in addition to having his best YPT mark (8.1) since that impressive rookie season. Pitts will turn just 25 years old in October, but fantasy managers understandably are wary of buying in after being burned the last three years. What's more, Pitts’ early returns with QB Michael Penix left a lot to be desired. In the three games the 2024 first-round pick started last season, Pitts caught just seven passes for 66 yards and one TD.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Predicted to snag long-term deal
Kevin Patra of NFL.com predicts Pitts, who the Falcons applied the franchise tag to earlier this offseason, will eventually sign an extension to remain with the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Patra acknowledges the rollercoaster nature of Pitts' career, which has included a spectacular rookie campaign and several subsequent lackluster seasons, makes it challenging to prognosticate what direction the Falcons might take with him long-term. However, with Pitts having recorded a career-high 88 receptions in 2025 despite uneven quarterback play, the importance of tight ends in new head coach Kevin Stefanski's offense and the overall dearth of playmaking pass catchers beyond Drake London and Bijan Robinson on Atlanta's roster, Patra envisions Pitts and the Falcons eventually coming to terms on a long-term deal.
