Solid impact as rookie

Caldwell recorded 31 tackles (14 solo) with 1.0 sack, one pass defensed and one forced fumble across 17 regular-season games in 2025.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers selected Caldwell in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he went on to play 485 defensive snaps in his rookie season. He primarily functioned as a run stuffer, which he did effectively, and he should at least maintain a comparable role in 2026. While Caldwell was a key member of the Chargers defense, his fantasy intrigue is minimal due to his lack of production as a pass rusher.

More freedom to get after QB?
DTLos Angeles Chargers
July 9, 2026
Ben Solak of ESPN.com suggests Caldwell could have a breakout 2026 season thanks to more opportunities to get upfield.
ANALYSIS
In identifying potential breakout candidates on each team for the upcoming season, Solak tabs the Chargers' Caldwell, who already had the benefit of 525 defensive snaps as a third-round rookie in 2025. The Oregon product was solid with 31 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, one pass defensed and one forced fumble over 17 regular-season games, and he demonstrated his ability to play over both the center and guard. With the addition run-stuffing veteran Dalvin Tomlinson this offseason, Solak predicts Caldwell should see a significant rise in pass-rushing opportunities and potential one-on-one matchups in the midst of an aggressive, talented defense.
