                2025 Fantasy Outlook

Thornton was one of the big winners from the 2025 NFL Combine, where he ran a 4.30 40 at 6-foot-5, 205 pounds, albeit with an average broad jump (126 inches) and poor vertical (33 inch). The Raiders took a shot early in the fourth round, with the 108th overall pick, undeterred by the poor vertical jump or Thornton's middling college production -- 65 catches for 1,426 yards and 10 TDs across four seasons for Oregon and Tennessee. He had personal bests of 661 yards and six TDs last year, making the most of his 26 receptions with an SEC-leading 25.4 yards per catch. Thornton's best chance to contribute this season would be in a similar role as a deep threat, running a lot of clear-out routes while occasionally getting shots downfield or in the end zone. Tre Tucker and Amari Cooper offer veteran competition, but Thornton ran with the starters all summer and even caught a TD pass from Geno Smith in the final preseason game. Fills in for Meyers
Thornton was unable to haul in any of his three targets in Sunday's 31-0 loss to the Chiefs.
				ANALYSIS
Thornton actually had a pair of would-be first down receptions wiped out by penalties, but he ended the contest with a zero in the box score because of the flags. Nonetheless, his playing time surged with Jakobi Meyers (knee) and Brock Bowers (knee) sidelined, as Thornton logged 86 percent of the Raiders' offensive snaps. Meyers is tracking to return after the Week 8 bye, so Thornton figures to continue competing with Jack Bech for the WR3 role.

    Flashing chemistry with QB
Thornton continues to make a case for a starting role in the Raiders offense, connecting with Geno Smith on a 70-yard touchdown during the team's first padded practice of training camp Monday, Ryan McFadden of ESPN reports.
				ANALYSIS
The 2025 fourth-round pick out of Tennessee has the size and speed to be a vertical threat for Las Vegas, and he flashed those traits Monday when he blew past cornerback Darien Porter to get under a deep pass from Smith. Veteran wideout Jakobi Meyers and tight end Brock Bowers are locked in as the Raiders' top pass catchers, but Thornton is competing with Tre Tucker and fellow rookie Jack Bech for the other starting spot opposite Meyers in 12 personnel, which the team figures to use frequently under new coach Pete Carroll.
