2026 Fantasy Outlook
Twenty of Giddens' 26 carries as a rookie in 2025 came in the first and last games of the season, contests in which the outcome was either not in doubt (a Week 1 rout of the Dolphins) or didn't matter to the Colts (a Week 18 loss to the Texans after they were already eliminated from the playoffs). In between, Giddens barely saw the field and fell off the gameday roster entirely for half the year. The fifth-round Kansas State product made some noise at the combine, posting a 40-yard time of 4.43 at 212 pounds while landing in the 95th percentile in the vertical jump and 98th percentile in the broad jump, but on tape he lacked passing-down skills and didn't show the vision or patience necessary to take advantage of his blocking, instead just relying on instinctive elusiveness to avoid defenders. Giddens could eventually develop into a useful special-teams option and a big-play threat if he gets the ball in open space, and Indy didn't bring in much competition for him for the No. 2 job behind Jonathan Taylor, but he has a long way to go to demonstrate he can be a consistent contributor in an NFL offense. Competing for backup role
After a quiet rookie season, Giddens will compete against Seth McGowan for the backup running back role behind Jonathan Taylor for the 2026 season, Paul Pretl of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Giddens was a fifth-round selection of the Colts in the 2025 NFL Draft. He finished his rookie year with 26 carries for 96 yards across nine regular-season games, though 20 of those touches came in Weeks 1 and 18. Per Bretl, Colts head coach Shane Steichen told reporters in early June that Giddens' growth and knowledge of the team's offensive scheme puts the latter ahead of McGowan for the RB2 job heading into training camp.

Kansas State was beyond fortunate to unearth Giddens as a walk-on recruit, because he would go on to be one of the all-time best players for the Wildcats. Giddens (6-0, 212) ran for 3,087 yards (6.0 YPC) and 23 touchdowns over 39 career games, and with 4.43 speed at his disposal it's easy to see that Giddens is a good athlete despite his walk-on background. With that said, Giddens visibly lacks anchor and to fully tap into his speed requires standing upright in a way that makes Giddens a big target for defenders. This means that while Giddens is otherwise competent at running through traffic, he can't hit the gas until he's well into the open field, because to open up his gait in the middle of traffic is begging for a clothesline or helmet-to-helmet collision. Giddens also appears dubious for passing-down purposes, because his 65.2 percent career catch rate is quite poor by running back standards. Giddens should be a productive off-the-bench rushing specialist in the NFL with some big-play upside, but his areas of concern are enough to make it appear that Giddens is better suited to the bench than a starting role, even in the distant future. For now he'll compete with Khalil Herbert and Tyler Goodson for the running back snaps behind Jonathan Taylor, and observers shouldn't be shocked if Giddens ends up fourth in that line.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Chance for increased role
Giddens would serve as Indianapolis' RB2 behind Jonathan Taylor for Sunday's game against Miami if Tyler Goodson is unable to play due to an elbow injury, Amanda Foster of the Colts' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Giddens rotated with Goodson as the No. 2 running back during training camp, and the former would be in line to serve in that role in Week 1 if the latter is not cleared to suit up. Giddens went from a zero-star recruit to the starting running back for Kansas State, where he posted 1,200-plus yards in each of his last two collegiate seasons. The rookie fifth-rounder is an elusive runner and has good hands in the passing game, so he could see additional work on passing downs and whenever Taylor needs a breather during Sunday's regular-season opener if Goodson cannot play.
