2026 Fantasy Outlook
In his first season in Indianapolis last year, Jones was on pace for 4,000 passing yards and 25 touchdowns when an Achilles tear took him down Week 14. By fantasy points per game, he ranked QB13, bolstered by strong efficiency and a few QB-sneak TDs early in the season. Jones was fifth in the league in both on-target and completion percentage, giving him the fourth-highest YPA at 8.1. He went downfield at a decent rate too, with his 8.2-yard average target depth and his percentage of 10-plus yard attempts (32.0) both ranking 14th. He didn’t run as much as in his New York days (though he had a career-high five rushing TDs) and that could be scaled back even more this season because of the injury. Jones hopes to return Week 1, but Achilles injuries can impact performance long after a player gains medical clearance. The Colts, though, were confident enough to give him a two-year, $88 million contract this offseason. But they also traded his No. 1 receiver, Michael Pittman, and didn’t replace him via the draft or free agency, leaving Alec Pierce atop the depth chart followed by Josh Downs and TE Tyler Warren. It would be good if a third wide receiver emerged, but perhaps it won’t matter as the offense runs through RB Jonathan Taylor anyway. With Jones' own rushing impact likely muted after the injury, he's unlikely to be more than a streaming option or backup in single-QB fantasy leagues. Read Past Outlooks

Continues to progress
On the subject of his Achilles rehab, Jones said Friday, "I'm doing everything. Cleared to do everything. I think it's just about, at this point, sharpening that," James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
That said, Jones acknowledges the injury he sustained Dec. 7 last year is still on his mind, noting on that front, "you're still thinking about it. I think (you) probably will until you get playing." An important milestone in the QB's ongoing recovery will be a return to 11-on-11 drills, with Coach Shane Steichen having previously noted that the plan is for Jones to resume work in those drills when training camp begins later this month.

Jones played his way out of New York last season, getting released in November. In 10 games, he had eight TD passes and nine turnovers, failing to throw a touchdown pass in six games. His 6.1 YPA ranked 35th of 36 quarterbacks, and his 20.7 completion percentage on attempts of 20-plus yards was last. His once-potent running game crashed too, as he averaged a career-low 4.0 yards per carry. Jones hopes to salvage his career in Indianapolis, where he won his summer job battle with third-year pro Anthony Richardson. The Colts have plenty of quality receiving options, led by WRs Michael Pittman and Josh Downs, and they added tight end Tyler Warren with the 14th overall pick this April. Jones should have enough help, and enough rushing stats, to be a serviceable QB2 in fantasy for however long he ends up starting.

Achilles recovery right on schedule
Jones said Friday he's been "cleared to do everything" in his ongoing recovery from the Achilles tear he suffered in Week 14 of the 2025 season, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran signal-caller was notably in the midst of what was shaping up as the best season of his career when he went down, and despite the injury, Jones was still inked to a two-year, $88 million extension by the Colts in March. He subsequently made incremental progress over the remainder of the offseason, managing to throw at OTAs, transitioning to individual drills and then participating in 7-on-7 drills before the end of offseason on-field work. Per June reports, Jones is expected to participate in 11-on-11 drills once training camp begins July 29.
