Colorado Rockies AAA
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Ritter hit 24 home runs in 525 plate appearances across three levels in the Colorado farm system in 2023. He hit just seven in 373 plate appearances in 2024 but rebounded to hit 16 in Triple-A before the Rockies called him up last season where Ritter hit all of one home run in 207 plate appearances. The homer numbers were more a by-product of the environments the Colorado affiliates play in because Ritter's game is built on speed and defense, but the former was tough to display because his weak bat and high strikeout rates hindered his efforts to reach base. Ritter played enough at both middle infield positions to qualify there for 2026, which makes him a versatile player for NL-Only leagues and 50-round drafts, and his best chance for viability is to win the second base job over the more highly-touted but equally struggling Adael Amador. Every season, someone comes out of nowhere to surprise in Colorado, but it will take a heavy dose of if/then statements to successfully run for Ritter to be that guy. Read Past Outlooks

Optioned to Triple-A

April 2, 2026
The Rockies optioned Ritter to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.
Analysis
Ritter claimed a spot at the end of Colorado's bench to begin the regular season, but he'll now head back to Triple-A after beginning the season 1-for-7 with a run scored and three strikeouts. His demotion frees up a spot on the Rockies' active roster a day before Mickey Moniak (finger) is eligible to return from the injured list.

How does Ryan Ritter compare to other hitters?
This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

Analysis
Ritter didn't have the chance to extend his hitting streak to 11 games since he got Sunday off in the series finale against Pittsburgh.
