2026 Fantasy Outlook
Betts won a third straight Silver Slugger in 2024 in his first season working as a full-time shortstop, but he took a step back during the 2025 regular season with a .258/.326/.406 slash line in 150 games. He clubbed 20 homers during his age-32 campaign for the eighth time in his MLB career, though his eight stolen bases are the first time he's failed to reach double digits since playing just 52 games as a rookie in 2014. Betts batted leadoff or second for the Dodgers all season, which helped him rack up 82 RBI and 95 runs scored, but it was still the least productive year of his career. Betts struggled defensively at shortstop the previous two years, but he found his footing in 2025 and finished with plus-17 DRS and plus-5 OAA. He'll have single-position eligibility in 2026 after making just one appearance in the outfield. Betts' hard-hit rate dropped to a career-low 35.8 percent, though a .258 BABIP, .276 xBA and .435 xSLG indicate he may have deserved some better offensive results. Now entering his age-33 campaign, Betts has a decent floor for counting stats given Los Angeles' elite lineup, but he no longer appears to be the player that was a consistent MVP candidate. Nearing spring debut
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that Betts won't play in a spring game until at least Sunday, and maybe not until "early next week," Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Analysis
Betts isn't dealing with an injury, but Roberts has intentionally held him out of Cactus League contests thus far. The veteran manager stated that the Dodgers "wanted to ramp [Betts] up differently," per Plunkett, and further explained, "I wanted Mookie to start a little bit later as far as not getting into spring training ready to go, and kind of use spring training to build up." Betts is looking to rebound from a subpar season offensively, as his .732 regular-season OPS last year was the lowest mark of his big-league career.

Betts missed close to two months of the 2024 campaign due to a fractured left wrist, but he returned to help lift Los Angeles to a championship with a .951 OPS and four homers in the postseason. Now a three-time World Series champion, Betts has been an All-Star in each of the last eight full MLB seasons. His slugging percentage was down close to 90 points from 2023, when he was an MVP finalist in the National League, but Betts still graded out as 41 percent better than league average by wRC+. While he's still just 32 years old, Betts is at the point where he may need a few more days off after battling various injuries and falling below 123 games played in two of the past four years. His speed is starting to dry up, but he knows how to pick his spots, as evidenced by his 16 steals in 18 attempts last season. Eligible at shortstop and outfield entering 2025 -- plus second base in leagues with a 15-game minimum -- Betts should continue to thrive while batting between Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman in the Dodgers' lineup.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Expected to hit third
Betts is expected to be the Dodgers' No. 3 hitter in 2026, manager Dave Roberts told Katie Woo of The Athletic on Wednesday.
Analysis
The Dodgers have one of the most dangerous lineups ahead of the 2026 season, especially after adding Kyle Tucker in free agency, so Roberts has to find a combination that works best for all of his players. Betts was the Dodgers' No. 2 hitter in 2025, but the drop in the order shouldn't alter his upside considerably. He's coming off a down year in 2025, as he posted career-low marks in both average and ISO, .258 and .148, respectively, during the regular season.
