2026 Fantasy Outlook
Still a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame, Trout's star has fallen considerably in recent years as a result of his various injuries. The Angels moved him to right field and later to DH in an effort to preserve his health, and Trout went on to appear in 130 games last season, his most since 2019. He made one trip to the injured list in May with a left knee contusion. The injuries have started to take their toll on Trout's performance in recent years, though he showed in 2025 that he can still do plenty of damage with 26 homers in 556 plate appearances. It's a shame that the Angels have rarely put a winning team around Trout; once the best player in the game, he's in danger of ending his career in relative obscurity. The skills remain good enough to justify the risk, but most will want to take this flier far later in the draft than he has gone historically. Read Past Outlooks
Fourth straight day with homer
Trout went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, three walks and three runs scored in Thursday's 11-4 win against the Yankees.
Analysis
Trout continued to dominate New York pitching, launching his seventh homer of the season -- and fifth of the four-game series -- while also drawing three walks, including an intentional pass that showed the Yankees' respect for his power. After a brief slowdown to begin April, Trout has caught fire again, going 9-for-23 with 12 RBI, 11 runs scored and six walks over his last six games. Following three injury-plagued and underwhelming seasons, the 34-year-old is showing strong signs of returning to his elite form, with early production suggesting a potential return to 30-plus home run territory, if he can stay fairly healthy.

Trout had another season sabotaged by injury in 2024. This time it was a torn meniscus in late April which required surgery, and just as he seemed to be nearing a return, Trout suffered another tear in the same meniscus and needed season-ending surgery in August. Trout clubbed 10 home runs and also stole six bases - matching his total from the previous four seasons combined - in 29 games before getting hurt, showing that he's still capable of being a fantasy difference maker if he can stay off the IL. The three-time MVP has said he'd be fine with moving to an outfield corner or serving as a designated hitter in 2025 if it helps keep him healthy, and at this point such a move might be a necessity. Trout's fantasy draft price will never be lower, but so will the level of certainty.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Wants to return to CF
Trout wants to return to center field in 2026, according to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com.
Analysis
Trout is expected to see time at all three outfield spots in the spring before deciding where he'll play once the regular season begins. The star outfielder opened the 2025 season as the Halos' right fielder, but he was moved to a full-time DH role after suffering a left knee injury. Jo Adell was the Angels' primary center fielder in 2025, but he rated poorly in several metrics, so Trout's return to his old role can't be ruled out at the moment.
