If you play in only nonkeeper league formats, you do not need to read on any further. Brash had Tommy John surgery, which included installing a brace around the repaired ligament, and that surgery was completed May 10, 2024. Best-case scenario is he makes it back on the mound in Seattle by Memorial Day weekend, but these situations rarely work out in those best-case scenarios. The more likely outcome is Brash is back in the big leagues closer to the mid-summer classic and resumes his high strikeout and high walk ways while frequently showing up on Pitching Ninja clips. Pre-injury, his slider was one of the more unhittable pitches in all of baseball and he threw the pitch 51 percent of the time to hitters. Unfortunately, everything else he threw in 2023 was too hittable, as the league hit anywhere from .300 to .429 against his other offerings. Command is always the last thing to come back in these situations, and Brash did not have much to spare before his injury. He will likely be more fun to watch in social media clips than he will be to have on your roster in 2025. Snags fourth save
Brash allowed a run on two hits and struck out one over one inning to earn the save in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Angels.
                  Analysis
Andres Munoz had pitched four of the previous five days, leaving this save opportunity for Brash. It was a little shaky when Taylor Ward hit a leadoff home run in the ninth inning, but Brash was able to settle in and convert his fourth save of the year. He's allowed seven runs (six earned) over his last 17.1 innings, adding three saves and seven holds in that span as Seattle's top setup man. Brash has a 1.85 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 54:16 K:BB through 43.2 innings this season.

Brash was a workhorse for Seattle last season, establishing career-highs in games played (78) and innings (70.2). He was 2nd among qualified relievers with 107 strikeouts and 8th with a 34.7% strikeout rate and 25.3% K-BB%. The 25-year-old's 9.4% walk percentage was below-average (34th percentile), but a significant improvement over 2022's 14.9% mark. Brash's improved control was likely a big factor in him earning more high-leverage opportunities. He primarily settled into a setup role and racked up a career-best 25 holds, 9 wins and 4 saves. Brash threw far more sliders (50.5% usage) last season, a +12.7 percent difference in usage from 2022. It continues to be his most successful offering (.162 BAA, 48.5% whiff), while his secondaries could still use some work despite adding velocity on his 4-seamer (98.1 mph average). It's clear Brash is most successful as a reliever, so expect him to maintain a late-inning role for the Mariners in 2024.

                  Thriving in high-leverage role
Brash owns a 1.98 ERA and 1.10 WHIP across 13.2 innings since the All-Star break.
                  Analysis
Brash is tied for the MLB lead with 14 appearances in the past 30 days. He recorded just his second save of the season August 4, but the 25-year-old has also notched 17 holds and eight wins across 57 appearances. He's a sneaky source of fantasy value with a slightly boosted ceiling after the Mariners traded closer Paul Sewald at the deadline.
