                2025 Fantasy Outlook

Acquired from Cleveland last year in the Lane Thomas deal, Tena got a look in Washington over the final two months, mostly at third base (35 games). He smacked a walk-off hit in his team debut Aug. 10 and finished with a respectable .274 average, three homers and six steals in seven attempts across 164 plate appearances for the Nationals. Tena has some speed and has reached double-digit homers in the minor leagues several times, but it will be tough for him to stick at the hot corner long term given the general offensive expectations at the position. Realistically, he may be best suited for a utility role, but as he enters his age-24 season in 2025, Tena appears tentatively set for an extended audition as a lineup regular between third base and second base. Demoted after Sunday's game
The Nationals optioned Tena to Triple-A Rochester following Sunday's 11-9 loss to the Phillies.
                  Analysis
Making a start at second base Sunday, Tena went 1-for-4 with an RBI double and his third stolen base of the season, but the performance wasn't enough for him to maintain his spot on the 26-man active roster heading into the Nationals' three-game series with the Mets, which begins Tuesday. The 24-year-old infielder has handled a limited role across his multiple stints in the big leagues this season, slashing .243/.341/.355 with no home runs, 16 RBI and 19 runs over 169 plate appearances.

        2024 Fantasy Outlook

Tena climbed three levels in 2023, culminating in his major league debut receiving 34 plate appearances and slashing .226/.294/.290 in 18 games played. Tena's bat played much better in both Double-A and Triple-A, combining for 35 extra base hits, eight of which were home runs, and 16 steals across the two levels of the minors. If the 22-year-old breaks camp with Cleveland, he should be viewed as a utility option at best with the capability of playing multiple infield roles, but no clear path to starting at any of them.
