Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Fermin has put up an OPS over .900 each of the last two seasons at Triple-A Memphis and offers positional versatility with the ability to play everywhere but first base and catcher. And yet, even on a Cardinals team lacking offense and going through a rebuild, he's found his opportunities with the big club few and far between. The 27-year-old's batted-ball data in his brief chances in the majors has been lackluster, as he's yet to connect on a single barrel in three seasons. What Fermin excels in is plate discipline, as he boasts a 10 percent walk rate and 13.8 percent strikeout rate in the majors and a ridiculous 14.6 percent walk rate and 8.8 percent strikeout rate the last two years at Memphis. Fermin could surprise if he finds his way into the lineup regularly, but the latter doesn't seem likely even as St. Louis continued its roster churn over the winter. Read Past Outlooks
Scratched from Monday's lineup
Fermin has been scratched from the Cardinals' lineup against the Nationals on Monday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis
Fermin was initially slated to start in left field and bat eighth. However, Masyn Winn (hip) has been cleared to return from a two-game absence, so the Cardinals have elected to shift Thomas Saggese from shortstop to left field while moving Fermin to the bench. Fermin has appeared in just two regular-season games in 2026, with his lone start taking place Friday against the Tigers.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
The Cardinals were searching for offensive help in every corner of their roster last season, but even with that Fermin wasn't able to sniff the lineup on a regular basis. He didn't exactly make a compelling case for himself in the few opportunities he was given, either, looking overmatched in his 79 plate appearances. The 26-year-old did put together easily his best offensive showing at Triple-A Memphis, but considering it was his fourth stint at the Triple-A level, that's not exactly something to write home about. Fermin has speed and offers some defensive versatility, but he appears no closer to carving out a big-league role than he did at this time last year.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could see outfield action
According to John Denton of MLB.com, Fermin played one game in left field for Triple-A Memphis in an attempt to improve his versatility as a big-league bench piece. He was called up by the Cardinals on Friday.
Analysis
The 25-year-old appeared in nine games for the Cardinals in late April and early May but has spent most of the campaign with Memphis, where he has a .346/.461/.615 slash line in 32 contests. St. Louis' infield is currently in good health, so being a viable option in the outfield can only help Fermin's outlook for playing time. Still, he'll likely be limited to a reserve role barring an injury for the Cardinals.
