2026 Fantasy Outlook
Rojas is very good at two things: playing center field and running fast. Everything else is... well, did I mention he's very good at playing center field and running fast? Rojas did show some promise with the bat during his rookie season in 2023 with a .771 OPS in 59 games, but in 191 games and 535 plate appearances since then, he's slashed .237/.279/.312 with bottom-of-the-barrel quality of contact. The 25-year-old is 51-for-58 in stolen-base attempts at the big-league level, and there has been a scenario where his defense was so good that he'd play enough to rack up steals. Rojas' bat has been so inept, though, that it's unlikely he'll ever become more than a defensive replacement/pinch runner. Read Past Outlooks

Hit with 80-game suspension
OFPhiladelphia Phillies
Suspension
March 16, 2026
MLB announced Monday that Rojas has been suspended 80 games for violating the league's policy against performance-enhancing drugs, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Analysis
Word of Rojas' looming suspension came out earlier this month, and Rojas lost his appeal. He won't be eligible to play in the regular season until late June. With Rojas set to miss the first half of the season, Justin Crawford and Brandon Marsh should see somewhat regular playing time in the Philadelphia outfield. Rojas posted an underwhelming .569 OPS across 172 plate appearances at the big-league level last regular season.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
Rojas showed speed and good defense in his 59-game debut back in 2023, but his .302 average was propped up by a clearly unsustainable .410 BABIP. There were doubts about whether he'd be a viable glove-first regular once the batted-ball luck dried up, but the Phillies decided the center field job was his to lose. Lose it he did, on multiple occasions, including a brief return to the minors in late June. All told, he slashed just .243/.279/.322 and homered a mere three times in 363 plate appearances, with his 27.4% hard hit rate suggesting that there's unlikely to ever be meaningful power in his bat. Still, it's far too early to give up on Rojas heading into his age-24 season. His 25 steals reinforce the idea that he'd be right up there with the league leaders if his bat can just get to passable. He did make some improvements at the plate, cutting his chase rate from 41.5% to 35.7% and slashing his strikeout rate from 25.6% to 19.0%. You can still squint and see quite a good speed-and-defense center fielder here, but his current profile looks like a fourth outfielder.
Rojas had been one of the Phillies' most interesting prospects for a handful of seasons, but he didn't appear to be on the threshold of making a difference for the big-league club last offseason, as he'd reached Double-A for 60 games in 2022 but posted a forgettable 100 wRC+. He was sent back to the same level to open 2023, and his wRC+ jumped to 131 in 76 games, the product of a .306/.361/.484 slash line. That performance earned him a call-up at the start of the second half, and he didn't look back, hitting .302/.342/.430 while starting 40 of the final 72 games. He also went 14-of-15 on the basepaths. While the emergence of a young prospect with speed, contact ability and an excellent glove in center is undeniably exciting for the Phillies, the team pumped the brakes on the hype train by indicating he'll have to fight for the center field job this spring. It took a .410 BABIP to get him to his strong rookie slash line, and his 3.0 percent walk rate and 25.6 percent strikeout rate make for a very worrying combination. He also managed a pitiful 28.3 percent hard-hit rate. Rojas' speed and defense prop up his floor in both fantasy and real life, but his bat may not be ready quite yet despite his 2023 numbers.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Trade on horizon?
OFPhiladelphia Phillies
October 12, 2024
According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the Phillies could look to trade Rojas during the offseason.
Analysis
The 24-year-old opened the campaign as Philadelphia's primary center fielder, but he struggled to a .601 OPS in 363 plate appearances after posting a .772 OPS in 59 games as a rookie in 2023. Rojas is cost controlled and still has plenty of upside, but the Phillies need more offensively from their outfielders. Rojas could enjoy a better fit, and a more regular role, with another organization.
