2026 Fantasy Outlook
The veteran Happ has turned into a consistent fantasy performer who can contribute a little bit of something across the board. The 31-year-old outfielder batted just .243 in 2025, which was in line with his career .247 mark, but he reached base at a .342 clip. Happ also chipped in 23 home runs, 79 RBI and 87 runs scored. He topped it off with six stolen bases, which was a step back from the 13 steals he posted in 2024. Happ's ability to get on base, hit for some power and occasionally swipe a bag has made him a regular leadoff option for the Cubs the past few seasons, which has given his fantasy value a boost due to a strong lineup around him, particularly last year with the addition of Kyle Tucker and the emergence of Pete Crow-Armstrong. Happ also rarely misses time, as he's played in 150 games or more each of the last four years. There are certainly more exciting fantasy options on the board, but you should at least know what you're getting with Happ, and there is room for the veteran on many rosters. Read Past Outlooks
Launches fifth home run Friday
Happ went 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 12-4 win over the Mets.
Analysis
Happ was one of three Chicago hitters to go deep in the easy win, as he launched his fifth home run of the season in the eighth inning. The veteran outfielder is batting just .214, but his .799 OPS is nine points higher than his career mark, so he's still finding ways to produce offensively. After missing a few games recently with a bruised heel, Happ looks fully healthy, and he should remain a lineup staple for the Cubs moving forward.

Happ matched his career high with 25 homers and set new career highs in runs (89) and RBI (86) last season. He also fell just one stolen base shy of matching his high-water mark of 14 steals set the year prior, swiping 13 bags in 15 attempts. While not a superstar, Happ has panned out just fine for the Cubs as a first-round pick back in 2015. More of a utility man early in his career, Happ eventually settled in to left field and has now won three consecutive Gold Gloves there. The switch hitter draws walks at a high clip (career 12.0 BB%), which helps offset a rather high strikeout rate and middling batting average. Bump him up in leagues that count OBP over average, though his durability and consistency make him an appealing option in all formats. Entering his age-30 season in 2025, Happ has reached at least 153 games in each of the last three years.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
No progress on extension
Happ stated Monday that he hasn't had any conversations with the Cubs about a contract extension, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis
Happ is entering the final year of his deal after previously putting pen to paper on a three-year, $61 million extension with Chicago in April of 2023. The 31-year-old turned in yet another productive season in 2025, as he slashed .243/.342/.420 with 23 home runs, 79 RBI, six stolen bases and 87 runs scored in 150 regular-season games. While he's seemingly deserving of a new deal, it appears the club is content waiting for now.
