Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Torres inked a one-year, $15 million contract with the Tigers last season and put together a solid campaign with 16 home runs, 74 RBI, 79 runs and a .256/.358/.387 slash line in 145 games. The second baseman's average and slugging percentage were nearly identical from 2024, but he improved his on-base percentage nearly 30 points due to a 13.8 percent walk rate. He's back with Detroit on the qualifying offer for 2026, which should provide him a decent floor for run production given the surrounding lineup. Considering the similar numbers Torres posted the past two seasons, he should be expected to provide around 15 home runs, 70 RBI and 80 runs in 2026. Read Past Outlooks
Reaches three times in win
Torres went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 10-9 win over the Royals.
Analysis
Batting leadoff for just the second time this year, Torres provided a spark for the Tigers. The infielder is 5-for-8 across his last two games, which has raised his batting average from .200 all the way up to .250. That's in line with the .256 average Torres recorded during the 2025 regular season, and the veteran should continue to serve as a reliable table setter that is capable of scoring runs in bunches.

Torres closed out the final six weeks of the 2024 regular season on a heater in slashing .313/.386/.454 over his final 39 contests after the Yankees moved him back to the leadoff spot. It was too little, too late in terms of his overall fantasy impact last season, however, as Torres finished the campaign with 10 fewer home runs, nine fewer stolen bases and nearly 100 fewer points of OPS from the previous season. It was an ill-timed walk year, and unfortunately inconsistency has been a staple during Torres' career. Torres does still offer plus power potential at second base, but with 15 homers in 2024 and nine in 2021, there are no assurances there, particularly when factoring in his departure from Yankee Stadium to Detroit.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Mulling qualifying offer
Torres and his representation are gauging interest from clubs on multi-year deals before deciding whether to accept the Tigers' one-year, $22.025 million qualifying offer, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
Analysis
Of the 13 players that were extended qualifying offers, Torres is perhaps the most likely to accept it. Torres, who recently underwent sports hernia surgery, had a solid first season in Detroit, slashing .256/.358/.387 with 16 home runs and an 85:101 BB:K over 145 regular-season contests. However, he's a poor defender at second base and having a qualifying offer attached to him is sure to affect his free-agent market.
