2026 Fantasy Outlook
Sanchez followed his breakout 2024 campaign with an even stronger effort in 2025, earning all 30-second place votes to finish just behind unanimous Cy Young winner, Paul Skenes. Sanchez was one of just three starters to work at least 200 innings while posting the fifth-best ERA of all qualified pitchers and ninth-best K-BB percentage. He had as many scoreless outings (four) as he had outings in which he allowed four or more earned runs while also striking out 11 or more batters in four other contests. A more stabile Philadelphia bullpen likely would have helped Sanchez win more than just 13 of his 32 starts, but only free agents get to choose their teammates. Sanchez won just two of his final nine starts despite a 2.83 ERA and 61 strikeouts to just nine walks over 57.1 innings, as the Phillies struggled down the stretch. Sanchez has missed one start over the last three seasons and should once again be in contention for the NL Cy Young Award in 2026. Next time someone says the Rays win every trade, remind them the club gave away Sanchez for Curtis Mead, and walk away laughing (or crying.) Read Past Outlooks
Fans eight in six strong innings
Sanchez (2-1) notched the win Monday against the Cubs, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out eight.
Analysis
Other than serving up a two-run shot to Dansby Swanson in the fourth inning, Sanchez put together another strong outing Monday. The star left-hander fanned at least six for the fourth time in as many starts this year, also generating an impressive 16 whiffs on the evening. Sanchez, who owns a 2.01 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 31:7 K:BB over 22.1 innings, has given up two runs or fewer in each of his four appearances ahead of a difficult assignment this weekend against Atlanta.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
2023
Sanchez had all the ingredients of a perfect sleeper heading into last season, having produced good numbers (3.44 ERA, 1.05 WHIP) backed by strong peripherals (24.2 K%, 4.0 BB%, 57.0 GB%) in 2023 but over a small enough sample (99.1 IP) that your leaguemates might have missed it. The sleeper buzz proved accurate, as he locked down a rotation spot all year and produced a 3.32 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over 31 starts. His strikeout rate did fall from a bit above average to a bit below (20.3%), but he remained strong in walk rate (5.8%) and groundball rate (57.4%). That groundball rate in particular was an elite mark, trailing only fellow lefties Framber Valdez and Max Fried among qualified starters. Those two provide evidence that a profile like this one, with elite contact management and good control making up for merely average bat-missing ability, can find success long-term.
