2026 Fantasy Outlook
The move to acquire Singer from Kansas City last offseason proved a win for Cincinnati. While he was ultimately left off the wild-card roster, Singer was a valuable back-end starter for the Reds during the regular season, going 14-12 with a 4.03 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 163:60 K:BB over 169.2 innings. He rattled off six straight quality starts from Aug. 12 to Sept. 12 and totaled 15 quality starts for the season, tying for 12th in the National League. Singer leans heavily on his sinker to help keep the ball on the ground, though he lost a fair amount off his groundball rate in 2025. A jump in HR/FB could spell trouble if Singer doesn't bring his groundball rate back up. A career 22.1 K% caps his upside, but the right-hander has now posted a FIP under 4.00 three of the past four seasons and he will continue to take the ball every fifth day. Read Past Outlooks
Loses fourth straight
Singer (2-6) took the loss against the Cardinals on Friday, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks with six strikeouts over four innings.
Analysis
Singer allowed runs in three different frames and struggled with his command, throwing just 49 of 89 pitches for strikes. While only one of the three runs he allowed Friday was earned, the 29-year-old has now surrendered at least three runs in six straight starts, a stretch in which he's gone 0-5 while yielding 12 home runs. He'll carry a disappointing 5.89 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 42:19 K:BB across 55 innings this season into a road matchup against the Padres next week.

While it was still his most-used pitch, Singer dropped his sinker usage quite a bit in 2024 down to 41.3 percent. It was the first time he's ever used it less than 50 percent of the time in a season, and it proved more effective with a career-high plus-13 Run Value. It was a nice bounce-back season on the whole for Singer, although an xERA of 4.65 was nearly a run worse than his actual ERA. He also had major platoon splits, holding righties to a .563 OPS but getting pummeled by lefties to the tune of an .855 OPS. Now 28, it's fair to wonder whether Singer will ever develop a viable third pitch. Without one, he's probably reached his ceiling, which is that of a perfectly solid but low-upside fantasy starter. Singer's margin for error shrunk after he landed in Great American Ball Park in an offseason trade, although being a ground ball pitcher could help mitigate that potential disaster.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Potentially available via trade
Singer could be available via trade if the right offer comes along, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Analysis
Singer has been mentioned as a potential trade target since he'll be a free agent after the 2026 MLB season. However, it's unclear whether the Reds will be open to offers, and even if they are, the asking price will be high. According to Rosenthal, the Reds are looking to receive an MLB-ready starter and an MLB-ready bat for Singer's services. It doesn't seem as if any team in the league will be considering such an offer for the right-hander, who had a 4.03 ERA in 32 regular-season starts last year.
