Perkins took a step back from his successful contributions in 2024 as his opportunities to showcase his speed and defense were limited by a surprisingly healthier Milwaukee outfield and the emergence of Isaac Collins to that rotation. Perkins finished fifth in plate appearances on the outfield depth chart, mostly repeating his skills from the previous season in the limited opportunities. Perkins's ability to switch hit, play the field and run well should keep him around in a reserve capacity with Milwaukee but several dominoes need to fall in order for Perkins to get the playing time required to roster him on draft day. Perkins will hit the bench Wednesday for the third straight game, with each of his absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers. Brandon Lockridge appears to have inched ahead of Perkins as the Brewers' preferred third member of the outfield alongside Garrett Mitchell and Sal Frelick while Milwaukee remains without Jackson Chourio (hand).

As a switch hitter with elite defensive skills, Perkins is a prototypical fourth outfielder. He saw more playing time than that in 2024 given Milwaukee's injuries, and he finished with a .240/.316/.332 slash line, six home runs and 23 steals in 121 games. Perkins doesn't provide fantasy managers with much besides a middling average and stolen bases, but that's enough to guarantee him at least a semi-regular role for the Brewers when combined with plus-eight Defensive Runs Saved and plus-10 Outs Above Average. He could be a streaming option during hot stretches but doesn't have much long-term appeal.
