2026 Fantasy Outlook
Rosario spent the bulk of 2025 with Washington, posting a .736 OPS over 158 plate appearances before the Yankees acquired him near the trade deadline. The veteran utility man had an IL stint shortly after joining New York but ended up making a positive contribution to the club, slashing .303/.485/.788 with a home run and five RBI across 33 plate appearances before going 3-for-10 with an RBI in the playoffs. Rosario saw time at second base, shortstop, third base and right field last season, but he reached 20 games only at the hot corner, which is a pretty big ding in terms of his positional eligibility in fantasy. Still, the Yankees clearly value his versatility given that they re-signed Rosario in the offseason. New York is pretty locked in across the infield, but with Anthony Volpe likely to miss the early part of the campaign and Paul Goldschmidt no longer around at first base, Rosario could get a decent amount of opportunity early. Fantasy-wise, he's not likely to be a difference-maker, but if he gets enough playing time, Rosario offers just enough batting average and speed (with a modicum of pop) to be an end-of-bench option in deep leagues that allow daily lineup changes. The Dodgers, Rays and Reds have all failed to coax anything more out of Rosario over the past two seasons. Los Angeles at least thought enough of Rosario to bring him back in July after he finished 2023 with the club, though the reunion only lasted a couple weeks before the Dodgers moved on. After being claimed off waivers by the Reds, Rosario went on to hit .158/.186/.211 across 59 plate appearances. He famously co-headlined the trade that sent Francisco Lindor to Queens, but that was a lifetime ago in today's MLB. Rosario inked a one-year deal with the Nationals in January and will fill a utility role, with most of his playing time likely to come against left-handed pitching. The power and speed are not completely gone, but he will be a tough sell in shallow mixed leagues.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Option at first base?
According to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News, manager Aaron Boone said that Rosario will put in some offseason work at first base.
Analysis
The 30-year-old re-signed with the Yankees on a one-year, $2.5 million contract in mid-December, and the club is apparently hoping he can help cover the offseason departure of Paul Goldschmidt at first base. Rosario has yet to play the position in the majors but has played pretty much anywhere else, so he would still have plenty of roster value even if things don't work out at first base.
