Winker is a polarizing character on the field and in the clubhouse. He was an All-Star with the Reds in 2021 when he hit .305 with 24 homers, but in the years since he's bounced around from the Mariners to the Brewers to the Nationals to the Mets. There have been rumors that his boisterous antics may have worn thin with his teammates, although he seemed to fit in well in Queens, even if his numbers during that time weren't all that great. Childhood friend Francisco Lindor publicly endorsed Winker, which likely contributed to him re-signing on a one-year, $7.5 million contract. Winker, now 31, has always hit for a high average and OBP, but he has only reached 20 homers the one time. The 14 steals last season were a total surprise and should not be counted on again.
