2026 Fantasy Outlook
The veteran of over 300 Cup Series starts and three-time winner in NASCAR's top division returns for another season with Legacy Motor Club. Jones would gather five Top 10's last season and post a 20.2 average finish. Those accomplishments were in line with his previous two campaigns, so no big surprises for the No. 43 Legacy Motor Club team. Ben Beshore will move on from his crew chief role to serve another duty within the LMC team. Veteran Justin Alexander will take the reigns from atop the pit box beginning in 2026. Alexander has won five races at the Cup level as a crew chief. Intermediate and larger ovals, including superspeedways, continue to be this driver and team's strength. The team's Toyotas have their limits so there's limits to where the No. 43 team can go from here. Jones has experience and has won in the past and that does favor him over younger drivers in this part of the Cup Series field. Read Past Outlooks
Picks Up Top 10
Jones finished 10th in Sunday's Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway, his second Top 10 of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season.
ANALYSIS
After a rough start to the season that saw Jones fail to record a Top 20 in the first three races, he's now picked up three of those in a row, including a pair of 10th-place results, over the past three races. Jones started 24th at Darlington and moved up in the first 100 laps before spinning after contact from Denny Hamlin. Still, he worked his way back up by the end of the race to grab the final spot in the Top 10. The Cup Series now heads to Martinsville, a track where he has just one Top 10 in 18 career starts.

Jones experienced some regression in 2023 and posted just seven Top-10 finishes and a career-worst 27th-place finish in the driver standings. He also registered a career-worst 20.4 average finish for the campaign. The newly-branded Legacy Motor Club seemed to take a few steps back from their much more successful 2022 season. Jones' struggles were not unique as Noah Gragson and other driver's also struggled in the team's cars. New for 2024, Legacy Motor Club makes the switch to Toyota from Chevrolet. It's difficult to forecast how this change will immediately impact performance, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect some time to adjust before any gains are realized. Jones will be reunited with crew chief, Dave Elenz, so continuity and chemistry should continue to build. The veteran driver has clearly demonstrated he can be a "middle teens" driver but it will take some time and effort to get back there.
