2025 Fantasy Outlook
Stutzle finished the 2024-25 regular season with 24 goals and 79 points, making it his third straight campaign with at least 70 points. He hasn’t come close to repeating his 39-goal showing from 2022-23, and it will be difficult for that to change with his pass-first mentality. He registered just 162 shots last season, which was a significant drop from 192 in 2023-24 and 228 in 2022-23. While modest goal and shot totals diminish his fantasy value relative to other forwards of his caliber, he does have a physical component to his game, recording 46 PIM last year and logging at least 100 hits in each of the past four seasons. He also finished with 33 power-play points in 2024-25, which marked the fourth straight campaign of at least 20 power-play points. Even if his goal scoring isn’t reliable, he has plenty of fantasy upside at just 23 years old. Read Past Outlooks

Rest
April 15, 2026
Stutzle (rest) has been ruled out for Wednesday's regular-season finale against Toronto, Luke Fox of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
The Senators have rested several key players late in the regular season after clinching a postseason berth, and Stutzle will sit out a second consecutive game to close out the year. He recorded 34 goals, 49 assists, 126 hits, 44 blocked shots and 39 PIM while averaging 20:16 of ice time across 80 regular-season appearances this year, and he should be back on the ice for the start of the playoffs.

Stutzle set career highs in 2022-23 with 39 goals and 90 points across 78 games, but his 17.1 shooting percentage was on the high end and a potential warning sign. By contrast, in 2023-24 he finished with 18 goals and 70 points in 75 contests -- still great production overall, but that goal total was well below expectations and caused by a shooting percentage of just 9.4. There's evidence to suggest that he likely overperformed in 2022-23 and underperformed last season, so the truth of his goal-scoring abilities likely lies in the middle. However, that only tells part of the story with the other half being his changed power-play role: He was firing far more shots with the man advantage back in 2022-23 but served in more of a setup role last season. If that usage continues into this campaign, then Stutzle might climb back up to 25 or so goals, but he's unlikely to come anywhere close to his 39 from 2022-23.
Stutzle's third NHL season was his coming-out party. He racked up 39 goals and 90 points through 78 games. Of those 90 points, 28 came on the power play. Stutzle was one of 19 NHL skaters to tally 90 points last year and he was the youngest of the group. He racked up 228 shots with 114 hits and his 21:16 of ice time per game ranked sixth among all forwards. The 21-year-old is an anchor for the Senators and will continue centering the top line while being a key part of the first power-play unit. With Brady Tkachuk and one of Vladimir Tarasenko or Drake Batherson by his side, Stutzle should push for the 100-point club as one of the game's top forwards in 2023-24.
Stutzle was impressive in his rookie season, but he took his game to an entirely new level last year. The No. 3 overall selection from 2020 played in 79 of Ottawa's 82 regular-season games, posting 22 goals and 58 points. Stutzle was particularly productive with the man advantage, posting 26 power-play points. It was a massive year for a kid who turned just 20 years of age this past January. The Senators added both Alex DeBrincat and Claude Giroux to their roster this offseason in hopes of lengthening their lineup, moves that should serve to open up additional opportunities for Stutzle. This may be your last chance to draft the German at a reasonable price in fantasy leagues.
For a franchise desperate for glimmers of hope, the Senators had to have been pleased with Stutzle's rookie season. The German left winger scored 12 goals in 53 games as an 18-year-old and ranked fifth in the NHL's rookie scoring race with 29 points last year. Stutzle likely has a top-six spot in Ottawa's lineup secured heading into the upcoming campaign. The next step in his development will be to produce consistently in an elevated role against stiffer competition. He certainly has the tools to do so, but a limited supporting cast in Ottawa may cap his upside for at least another year.
Stuetzle was highly productive while playing for Adler Mannheim in Germany's top professional league in 2019-20, racking up seven goals and 27 assists in 41 games. That impressive performance as a teenager was enough to convince the Senators to select him with the third overall pick in this year's draft. Many believe Stuetzle would be best served by continuing to develop in his native Germany for another season before breaking into the NHL, but general manager Pierre Dorion has already hinted that he'll get every opportunity to earn a spot on Ottawa's Opening Night roster during this year's training camp. At this point it's hard to predict how Stuetzle will perform if he is in fact able to secure a full-time NHL role as a teenager in 2020-21, but he'll still be worth a late-round pick in redraft formats due to his draft pedigree alone, and he'll of course be a popular early-round selection in dynasty formats.

Stutzle underwhelmed in the postseason, producing just one assist in four games against the Hurricanes. During the regular season, the 24-year-old center was significantly more productive, generating his second 80-plus point campaign for his career, including 34 goals and 29 power-play points.
