2025 Fantasy Outlook
Sometimes, less is more, and that appeared to be the case with Chabot in 2024-25. He took a backseat to Jake Sanderson, but Chabot ended up playing in a career-high 80 games and logged the second-best point total of his career with 45, including eight on the power play. Counting on good health is asking a lot for Chabot, but his rise on offense could be sustained by the Senators' return to being a playoff-caliber team. The 28-year-old defenseman won't get premium minutes on offense anymore as Sanderson continues to grow, but Chabot has proven himself capable of being a 40-point defenseman over a full 82-game season. He should also add plenty of blocked shots, and the Senators' improvements should keep him positive in plus-minus rating as well. Read Past Outlooks
Closing in on return
Head coach Travis Green told reporters in Winnipeg on Monday that Chabot (upper body) is skating and is getting closer to returning to the lineup, according to Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia.
ANALYSIS
Chabot hasn't been in the lineup since Nov. 22 in San Jose. Garrioch noted that Chabot is trending toward playing this week, with a potential return date being against the Penguins on Thursday or the Blackhawks on Saturday. The left-shot blueliner will likely slot back into a second-pairing role once he's in the lineup.

Chabot is a great defenseman who has dealt with far more than his share of injuries. He had nine goals and 30 points across 51 contests last season. The 27-year-old has now reached the 30-point milestone in each of his past six campaigns, which is an impressive feat considering he's never played in more than 71 games in a single campaign and has appeared in fewer than 60 outings in two of his past three seasons. Under ideal circumstances, Chabot would be a strong candidate for 50 points in 2024-25, but it's unfortunately very unlikely that he'll enjoy that level of health. Instead, it's better to pencil him in for 30-40 points while taking him before other blueliners in that range due to his upside.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
May not travel
Chabot could miss the Senators' upcoming three-game road trip due to his upper-body injury, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Chabot has been out of action since Nov. 22 versus the Sharks, a stretch of eight games on injured reserve, and was out of the lineup for the three games prior to that. When healthy, the 28-year-old blueliner has offered solid offensive production with two goals and eight helpers, including four power-play points, in 18 outings. Once given the all-clear, Chabot should see plenty of minutes on the blue line, including reclaiming a spot with the man advantage.
