After bouncing between the NHL and AHL in 2022-23 and 2023-24, Wotherspoon played exclusively with Boston last season, producing one goal, six assists, 75 hits, 66 blocked shots and a minus-10 rating over 55 games. The left-shot defenseman landed a two-year, $2 million contract with the Penguins in free agency, so he should continue to be an NHL regular in 2025-26. However, Pittsburgh has a logjam of players on the back end, so it remains to be seen exactly what type of role Wotherspoon will occupy in 2025-26. The 28-year-old could intermittently serve as a healthy scratch with his new club, so it’s probably best to look elsewhere for non-scoring production outside the deepest of formats. Wotherspoon scored his first goal of the season on his only shot on net and added three blocked shots and a plus-4 rating in Monday's 6-3 win over the Blues.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Wotherspoon recorded eight assists, 31 PIM, 67 blocked shots and 84 hits across 41 regular-season appearances in 2023-24. If he plays regularly for the Bruins in the upcoming season, he might be a good source of hits and PIM, but there's a good chance he'll spend a fair amount of time as a healthy scratch. For that reason, you would need to be in an especially deep league to find value in him over alternative options at defense.
