Accepts two-year contract
CCalgary Flames
July 2, 2025
Frost signed a two-year, $8.75 million contract with the Flames on Wednesday, PuckPedia reports.
ANALYSIS
Frost was a restricted free agent this summer after completing his two-year, $4.2 million deal. He had 14 goals and 37 points across 81 appearances between Philadelphia and Calgary in 2024-25. That was his third straight campaign with over 35 points. Frost should continue to serve in a middle-six capacity and receive some power-play ice time this coming season.

Frost generated 13 goals and 41 points in 71 games last season. Despite finishing with fewer goals and points than he had in 2022-23, the 25-year-old forward improved his assist and point rates per 60 minutes last campaign. Frost got off to a sluggish start before accounting for seven tallies and 22 assists over a 35-game span from Jan. 6 to March 26. He was also more productive during the second half of the 2022-23 campaign. Frost has plenty of upside, and the possibility of playing alongside dynamic rookie Matvei Michkov is intriguing. Still, Frost will likely be available on waivers in most redraft leagues at the beginning of the year. He is worth monitoring for a potential pickup, especially if he can break his habit of slow starts.
Thrust into a full-time role for the rebuilding Flyers, Frost appeared in 81 of 82 regular-season games for the team a season ago and set career highs in all major categories (19 goals, 27 assists, 46 points, 155 shots on goal, five power-play points, 16:21 average time on ice). Frost was a big-time scorer back in his junior days, so it was nice to see him produce some points at the NHL level, even if they are of the secondary variety. Philadelphia again projects as one of the worst teams in the league, meaning Frost is locked into a significant role in 2023-24. Numbers similar to what we saw a season ago seem likely.
Frost played a little more than half of last season with the Flyers, managing five goals, 16 points, and a minus-11 rating in 55 games. Frost was a big time scorer in his junior days, but that type of production has yet to carry over to the NHL level. Frost has a real chance at a significant role with Philadelphia this year given the stunning lack of forward depth the Flyers possess, but nothing we've seen thus far suggests any sort of breakout is forthcoming. Frost can be left on the wire in most formats at the moment.
Frost produced seven points in 20 contests as a rookie with the Flyers last year. He also added 13 goals and 29 points in 41 games with AHL Lehigh Valley. A first-round pick from 2017, Frost is still just scratching the surface of his potential. With the Flyers' center depth being one of their strengths pending the return of Nolan Patrick from his battle with migraines, the 21-year-old Frost will probably spend the bulk of 2020-21 in the minors gaining more experience. Dynasty managers should stash him away with the hopes that he'll get a look in a consistent role within the next couple years.
Frost has yet to play in the AHL, but he's absolutely dominated the OHL during the past two campaigns, racking up 79 goals and 221 points in 125 games with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The 2017 first-round pick has a mean streak, too, as he's recorded 0.8 PIM per contest over that same span. The Flyers just signed forward Kevin Hayes (who will likely play center on the second line) to a seven-year, $50 million deal, but Frost still figures to be involved in the competition for the third-line center role during training camp. The 20-year-old pivot is a must-own player in dynasty leagues, but he's probably still a year or two away from being worth a pick in re-draft formats.
Frost is an intriguing prospect for the future after racking up 112 points in 67 games for OHL Sault Ste. Marie last season, as well as being named to the OHL First All-Star Team. The Flyers have already reassigned the speedy center to juniors, so he won't make an impact this year, yet might be worth stashing in deeper dynasty formats.

Set to be dealt
CPhiladelphia Flyers
January 30, 2025
Frost, who sustained an undisclosed injury or illness in Thursday's game versus the Islanders, is set to be traded to the Flames from the Flyers, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
Frost's removal from the contest was not specifically for trade-related reasons, but it appears he's on the move anyway. He'd likely improve the Flames' center depth and could be an option for a middle-six role. He has 25 points over 49 appearances this season.
