2025 Fantasy Outlook
Brought in from Ottawa in a trade that sent Linus Ullmark to the Senators, Korpisalo joined the Bruins to fill a backup role. He did fine, given the circumstances of the team's struggles, with an 11-10-3 record, a 2.90 GAA and an .893 save percentage over 27 games. Korpisalo is a clear backup at this stage of his career, especially with Swayman signed to a long-term deal. However, Korpisalo is one of the better backups in the league despite his inconsistency. With the Bruins' roster in transition after an inexplicably bad 2024-25 season, a lot of the Finn's fortunes will depend on the team in front of him in 2025-26. Read Past Outlooks
Needed in relief in Sunday's loss
Korpisalo turned aside all six shots he faced after replacing Jeremy Swayman early in the third period Sunday during the Bruins' 6-1 loss to the Sabres in Game 4 of their first-round series.
ANALYSIS
It was the first action of the playoffs for Korpisalo, and Sunday's result had little to do with Swayman, who was simply hung out to dry by his defense. With the Bruins facing elimination in Game 5 on Tuesday, coach Marco Sturm could give Korpisalo the start in an attempt to light a fire under his squad, but Swayman is more likely to be back between the pipes.

Korpisalo was perhaps the NHL's worst starting goalie in 2023-24. He went 21-26-4 with a .890 save percentage, and his GSAx was 93 of 93 with a -13.6 GSAx (goals saved above expected). There's nowhere to go but up for Korpisalo, who'll get a chance to back up Jeremy Swayman in Boston after being traded by Ottawa in the offseason. If anyone can help resurrect his game, it's Bob Essensa, former NHLer and the Bruins goalie coach, and the rest of the team's development squad. They've worked wonders before, and they may again with Korpisalo. He could be a decent spot starter with a stronger team in front of him.

ANALYSIS
Korpisalo was on the roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics, but he didn't appear in a game behind Juuse Saros. It's a spot the Korpisalo should be fairly familiar with, having served as the No. 2 option behind Jeremy Swayman for the Bruins. In total, Korpisalo played in 31 regular-season games for Boston in 2025-26, going 14-9-6 with a 3.15 GAA and one shutout.
