The 29-year-old defenseman dealt with a lower-body injury late in the regular season but has been able to handle his usual top-four minutes in the playoffs. He posted 17 points, 100 shots on net, 63 blocked shots and a plus-15 rating over 72 regular-season outings.

Chatfield posted personal bests in goals (eight), assists (14), points (22), blocked shots (66) and average ice time (15:12) during the 2023-24 campaign. Rather than test the market as an unrestricted free agent, he agreed to a three-year, $9 million contract extension with the Hurricanes in June. Chatfield has developed into a solid depth defender for the organization over the past two seasons. He will probably be back with Dmitry Orlov after they were used regularly together in 2023-24. The 28-year-old Chatfield could be a 25-point performer in the upcoming campaign, but he won't offer much help for fantasy managers in other categories.
