Brock Faber

Brock Faber

23-Year-Old DefensemanD
Minnesota Wild
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Faber had plenty of hype coming into 2024-25, but he instead experienced a bit of a sophomore slump, dropping from 47 to 29 points in his second campaign. He's still a massive presence on the Wild's blue line, but it's possible his defensive acumen will be costly to his scoring potential at times. That becomes a larger concern if Zeev Buium begins 2025-26 in the NHL, where he'll likely displace Faber from being an option on the first power-play unit. For now, it's not worth reading too much into Faber's drop in offense from one year to the next, as he's just entering his age-23 season and should be able to continue to grow his game. That means Faber should be rostered in most fantasy formats for his upside alone. Read Past Outlooks

Two-point effort in OT win
DMinnesota Wild
April 26, 2026
Faber scored a goal and added an assist Saturday in the Wild's 3-2 overtime win over the Stars in Game 4 of their first-round series.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old blueliner got Minnesota on the board midway through the first period before helping to set up Marcus Foligno's game-tying tally in the third. Faber has been impressive to begin the playoffs, collecting three goals and five points in four games as the series shifts back to Dallas for Game 5 on Tuesday.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Faber had a fantastic rookie season with the Wild in 2023-24, providing eight goals and 47 points in 82 games. He also had a minus-one rating, 26 PIM, 65 hits and ranked second among Minnesota players in blocks with 150 while averaging a team-high 24:58 of ice time that included prominent roles on both the power play and in shorthanded situations. That versatility helped him finish second in Calder Trophy voting and should lead to him being a pillar of the Wild's blue line for years to come. Still just 22 years old, Minnesota will get Faber for one more season on an entry-level deal before his eight-year, $68 million contract extension kicks in. Look for him to help earn that payday by supplying another 45-55 points this season while blocking well over 125 shots.
A former standout at both the University of Minnesota and for Team USA at multiple World Junior tournaments, Faber turned pro following his junior season with the Gophers and appeared in two games for the Wild late in the year in addition to all six of their playoff contests. Faber is a strong skater with an excellent work ethic, but it's highly unlikely he will see enough power-play time to amass any fantasy value at the NHL level. That said, the 21-year-old is a future top-four defender for the Wild, likely beginning this upcoming season.

Might return against Preds
DMinnesota Wild
January 16, 2025
Faber, who has been sidelined with an upper-body injury, could be an option versus Nashville on Saturday, per Michael Russo of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Faber has missed four games due to his upper-body issue but seems to be trending in the right direction. The 22-year-old blueliner is slightly off his pace from last season, when he racked up 47 points in 82 regular-season games as a rookie. Still, as long as Faber doesn't miss significantly more time, he should once again top the 40-point threshold.
