2025 Fantasy Outlook
There are parallels between Allen and Amari Cooper, both of whom had career highs in some key categories in 2023 but then looked about five years older in 2024. In Allen's case, he dropped from 95.6 yards per game in his final season with the Chargers to 49.6 ypg in his lone season with the Bears, posting career lows for catch rate (57.9 percent) and yards per target (6.1) while playing in an offense that got subpar efforts from its offensive line, QB and top coaches. Allen was a victim of circumstance, yet also part of the problem, with his per-target numbers being worse than those of Chicago's other key pass catchers and 64 percent of his production coming in five of his 15 games (including four Chicago losses in which he mostly piled up stats near the end). Th 33-year-old waited until early August before signing a one-year deal to return to Los Angeles, where competition for playing time will come from Ladd McConkey, Tre Harris and Quentin Johnston. It's McConkey who poses the real problem for Allen, coming off a 1,149-yard rookie season in which he often aligned in the slot. And while the Chargers should have an efficient passing game as long as Justin Herbert stays healthy, Greg Roman's offense isn't nearly as pass-heavy as the offenses that Allen played in for the first few years of Herbert's career. RANKS
Team-high seven targets vs. KC
Allen caught five passes on seven targets for 36 yards during the Chargers' 16-13 win over the Chiefs on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers had just four wide receivers on the active roster for Sunday's AFC West tilt, with Quentin Johnston (groin) being the noticeable absentee. Allen paced the Chargers pass catchers with a team-high seven targets and finished with the third-most receiving yards behind rookies Oronde Gadsden (61) and Tre' Harris (49). Allen's catches and targets were his highest since Week 7 against the Colts (11 catches on 14 targets for 119 yards and a score). Next up for Allen and the Chargers is a Week 16 road tilt against the Cowboys on Sunday, Dec. 21.

Allen's 11th and final season with the Chargers was perhaps his best, featuring career highs for yards per game (95.6) and PPR scoring average (21.5). Only Tyreek Hill and CeeDee Lamb were more productive among WRs before Allen missed the final four weeks with a heel injury. The Chargers nonetheless wanted him to take a pay cut with one year and $23.1 million remaining on his contract, and they then shipped him to Chicago for a fourth-round pick when he rightfully declined. While it might've been a good business decision, Allen now will be paired with a rookie QB (presumably USC's Caleb Williams) and probably won't dominate targets the way he did in Los Angeles. It's not automatic that a 27-year-old DJ Moore will see more passes than a 32-year-old Allen, but there's no question it's a possibility, especially with Moore also coming off a career year. On top of that, the Bears have ninth overall pick Rome Odunze at wide receiver, two capable pass catchers at tight end (Cole Kmet, Gerald Everett) and a new running back (D'Andre Swift) who figures to see a decent number of targets. There's still an upside scenario in which Williams is an instant star and Allen his go-to guy, but the more likely outcome involves Allen experiencing noteworthy declines in both target share and quality of QB play.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Becomes franchise leader in catches
Allen became the Chargers' franchise record-holder in receptions with his 956th regular-season catch for the team during the Week 10 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Allen came into the game trailing Antonio Gates by one catch. The veteran wide receiver caught only two passes in the 25-10 win over Pittsburgh, but that was enough to surpass Gates for the team receptions record, which Allen achieved when he caught a pop pass for a seven-yard gain in the fourth quarter.
