2026 Fantasy Outlook
McPherson seemingly has job security and remains attached to a high-powered offense, but he hasn't quite lived up to the promise of his 2021 rookie season and hasn't been a factor in fantasy. He finished each of the past three seasons ranked outside the top-15 kickers in fantasy points per game, with mediocre efficiency and subpar volume on field goals. His PAT numbers are strong whenever QB Joe Burrow is healthy, but the combination of a strong offense and mediocre kicker means the Bengals go for it or punt in spots where other teams might attempt a three-pointer. It doesn't help to play in the AFC North, home of four teams that play outdoors in cities with cold winters. McPherson might otherwise rank among the league leaders in long-distance kicks, as he offers plenty of power (career-long of 63 yards) to make up for his inconsistent accuracy. Read Past Outlooks
Looking to build upon strong 2025
McPherson will again work as Cincinnati's primary kicker during the upcoming season following a bounce-back performance last year, John Sheeran of A to Z Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
McPherson struggled mightily in 2024, making just 16 of 22 FG attempts over 12 regular-season contests. However, he was much better last season, converting a career-high 89 percent of his field-goal tries (25-for-28), though he did miss three PATs. McPherson went 5-for-8 from 50-plus yards and 10-for-10 from 40 to 49 yards last year, giving the Bengals a reliable leg when they opted to kick from distance. Cincinnati has much higher aspirations after winning just six games last year, and McPherson figures to play a key role if the team is to rebound from a rough campaign.

2021
McPherson signed a three-year extension in Aug. 2024, but he still hasn't lived up to the potential of an excellent 2021 rookie season. Last year in particular didn't go well, with McPherson making a career-low 72.7 percent of field-goal attempts prior to missing the final five weeks with a groin injury. His career field-goal rate is down to 81.7 percent, and he's averaged just 5.0 makes from 50-plus yards over the past three seasons, after going 9-of-11 there during his 2021 rookie campaign. There's still upside for fantasy, given his leg strength and the quality of Cincinnati's offensive personnel, but there's also now a downside scenario in which McPherson continues to struggle and loses his job.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Receives vote of confidence
Coach Zac Taylor and Ja'Marr Chase both showed public support for McPherson on Monday, Jay Morrison of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McPherson received an extension from the Bengals this summer, but he's struggled with accuracy by making only 71 percent of his field-goal attempts this season. His misses have also been untimely, highlighted by an attempt in overtime of a Week 5 loss to the Ravens as well as a pair of miscues in the final eight minutes of Cincinnati's Week 11 loss to the Chargers. Despite McPherson's struggles, there is no indication that the Bengals are considering a change at the position.
