Tate announced Tuesday that he will forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility at Ohio State to enter the 2026 NFL Draft, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though often overshadowed by fellow standout receiver Jeremiah Smith, Tate was exceptional in his own right during his three-year career at Ohio State. A highly rated recruit from the Class of 2023, Tate wrapped up his junior season in Columbus with 51 catches for 875 yards and nine touchdowns on 65 targets over 12 games. He profiles as a likely first-round selection and could challenge USC's Makai Lemon as the first receiver off the board in the draft.

Stock could drop after slow 40 time
WRFree Agent

Tate seems unlikely to be selected in the top 10 picks of the 2026 NFL Draft after running a 4.53-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, per Eric Edholm of NFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Tate ran a disappointing 40-yard dash considering he weighs only 192 pounds, meaning he's neither exceptionally fast nor large. He could get another chance to run at Ohio State's Pro Day to improve that time and boost his draft stock, but Tate is fighting an uphill battle to be a top-10 selection given the precedent set by the measurements of wide receivers selected in the top 10 picks of the last few drafts, who were all either substantially heavier or faster than Tate.
