Headed for NFL
November 17, 2021
Shakir plans to forgo his remaining eligibility at Boise State to enter the 2022 NFL Draft following the season, B.J. Rains of the Idaho Press-Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Shakir is in the midst of his best season to date, catching 64 passes for 927 yards and five touchdowns. He would have the option of returning to Boise State for a fifth season, but he's unlikely to improve his draft stock by doing so.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2021
2020
Shakir is the clear alpha of the Boise State passing attack who enters this season with one of the highest floors of any receiver. He commanded a whopping 37 percent target share in 2020, converting that volume into 52 catches for 719 yards and six touchdowns in seven games. Boise State also brings back a talented quarterback room to support Shakir’s production, whether it’s Hank Bachmeier or Jack Sears. Shakir brings a blend of uniquely high target share in addition to being a talented and experienced wideout, making him a player to target in the early rounds as your WR1.
Shakir’s numbers took a big jump in 2019, as he went from having only 10 receptions to 63, which led the Broncos. Those catches went for 872 yards and six touchdowns, which are good numbers, but not necessarily the kind of numbers that wow you in college football these days. This was with the Broncos having to start three different quarterbacks, though, including true freshman Hank Bachmeier. Stability under center would go a long way for Shakir, who is entering his junior season. Will Shakir be the top target for whoever ends up as the starter for the Broncos? That’s a question we don’t know the answer to yet.
