Melifonwu announced Friday that he'll forgo his remaining eligibility at Syracuse to enter the 2021 NFL Draft, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The cornerback recently wrapped up his redshirt junior season at Syracuse, finishing with 55 tackles, eight pass breakups and an interception in 10 appearances. He would have retained two years of eligibility heading into 2021, but Melifonwu has instead elected to leave school early and follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Obi, who played in the NFL from 2013 through 2019.
