2023 Fantasy Outlook
Of the three backs for North Texas to run the ball over 100 times last year, Adeyi was the most dynamic. Among that trio, Adeyi had the fewest carries with 112. He also had the most rushing yards with 807. Adeyi’s 7.2 yards per carry definitely turns heads, and you might think it would mean he is in line for more carries in 2023. However, don’t get too excited. North Texas has a new head coach in Eric Morris. That means we don’t know what he thinks about these backs, for starters, but it’s also Morris’ style. He’s a Mike Leach guy who was the offensive coordinator at Texas Tech before becoming the head coach at Incarnate Word. In 2021, Morris’ last year coaching at Incarnate Word, his quarterback Cameron Ward threw the ball 590 times in 13 games. Now, in 2015, DeAndre Washington became the first back at Texas Tech to run for over 1,000 yards in a decade in a Morris offense, but obviously this is going to be a pass-first, pass-second team. Adeyi only has three receptions across his two college seasons. That’s not a great sign for his fit in this offense.
