2025 Fantasy Outlook
Williams experienced a statistical drop in his third year in the NBA. He averaged 6.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in 2024-25 while starting in only five of his 25 regular-season appearances. To put things into perspective, he averaged 10.0 points, 5.6 boards, 3.4 assists and a combined 1.6 steals-plus-blocks in 2023-24. Williams figures to add some nice depth on the wings, as he has eligibility both at shooting guard and small forward, and he's the kind of player who can do a little bit of everything across the board. However, Williams figures to see most of his minutes off the bench, and it would be surprising if he were to average around 25 minutes per contest. The lack of an established role and the limited upside associated with a bench role significantly limit Williams' potential. He's not a player worth targeting in any drafts, with his upside probably coming as a streaming alternative in deep formats once the season has already started -- and only on favorable matchups or roster scenarios. Waived by Jazz
The Jazz waived Williams (knee) on Monday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams was diagnosed with a torn ACL on Feb. 24 and is likely to miss the beginning of the 2026-27 season. With this transaction, the Jazz will be able to add someone to the vacated roster spot. Once healthy, Williams will likely draw considerable interest on the open market.

2023
Williams experienced a considerable rise across all of the major categories in his sophomore year, as he went from playing 15 games as a rookie (one start) to featuring 52 times (33 starts) for an injury-riddled Grizzlies team in 2023-24. This translated to several career-best marks, as the VCU product averaged 10.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and a combined 1.6 steals-plus-blocks in 27.6 minutes per game. Williams also shot a promising 37.8 percent from three-point range. This marked improvement from a statistical perspective would translate into fantasy promise in most cases. Still, it's worth noting the Grizzlies' situation in 2023-24 was remarkable due to all the injuries the team suffered. Williams is expected to be a backup for the Grizzlies in 2024-25, though his ability to play multiple positions could lead to him seeing around 22 to 25 minutes per night. Marcus Smart (finger) and Desmond Bane (back) are expected to start the 2024-25 campaign healthy, meaning Williams, whose status for the start of the campaign is in question following a lower leg injury during the preseason, will have to settle for a reserve role when healthy. That will undoubtedly hurt his fantasy upside. Fantasy managers would be wise to look at other options on draft day, but Williams could eventually carve a decent role off the bench if he replicates his impact from 2023-24.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Linked to contenders
Multiple contenders have recently checked in with Memphis regarding Williams, Evan Sidery of Forbes.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Grizzlies appear open to exploring options if a deal aligns with their long-term plans. However, it's hard to imagine the team moving Williams until they figure out what to do with Ja Morant. Williams, a versatile two-way wing, would provide depth for teams looking to bolster their rotation. With a contract running through 2027 at under $3 million per season, the appeal here for contenders is obvious.
