                2025 Fantasy Outlook

After a promising start to his career, Barnes dealt with injuries during the past two campaigns and experienced a drop in efficiency (45/27/76) last season. He also played a career-low 32.8 minutes per game, which led to reduced totals across the board. Despite the lack of significant improvements, Barnes remains a stat-stuffing machine when healthy and has finished as a top-55 player in eight-category leagues in each of his first four campaigns. He still has plenty of time to reach his peak and will be a go-to player in 2025-26, but the team around him remains a mystery. RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley have shown flashes since coming over from New York, but consistency has been lacking, plus they've also struggled to stay on the court. The Raptors made an aggressive mid-season trade for oft-injured Brandon Ingram, who still has yet to debut for Toronto but signed an extension that included a $42 million player option for 2027-28. Jakob Poeltl also signed an extension this summer and has been the most reliable piece for the Raptors since they traded Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby. They also drafted Collin Murray-Boyles, who joins a group of solid wing prospects in Ochai Agbaji and Jonathan Mogbo. Team success should mean fantasy success for Barnes, who'll be the straw that stirs the drink if things break right. The Eastern Conference should be ripe for the taking after postseason Achilles injuries to Jayson Tatum, Damian Lillard and Tyrese Haliburton weakened teams at the top. Nets 31 points with four triples
Barnes registered 31 points (11-18 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 139-121 loss to Houston.
				  ANALYSIS
Barnes has been unconscious from beyond the arc this season, drilling a ridiculous 55 percent of his three-point attempts, which is great to see after he only managed to convert 27.1 percent of his long-balls last year. He's not going to be this insanely good from three-point range all year long, but he has clearly worked on that aspect of his game, and adding a consistent three-point stroke should help boost his scoring numbers.

After two seasons of the Raptors hanging in the 40-win range, the team committed to a rebuild in the middle of last season, trading away both Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby. That effectively turned Barnes into Toronto's best player and building block of the future. He made his first All-Star game behind averages of 19.9 points on 48/34/78 shooting, 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 steals. He took significant steps forward as a passer, three-point shooter and shot-blocker, helping him return second-round category league value on a per-game basis. It's expected to be another rebuilding season for the Raptors, led primarily by Barnes but also Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett. The latter two will get plenty of usage, but Barnes should remain the focal point. At just 23 years old and making significant strides in an advantageous situation, Barnes has the makings of a potential early-round sleeper. The conditions are present for him to sneak into the first round this season, though on teams with incentive to tank, there's always an inherent risk of late-season resting. In that sense, he's less secure as a fantasy asset than he might otherwise be.

				  Hyped up by coach
During his exit interview Tuesday, Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic described Barnes as a "unicorn," Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca reports.
				  ANALYSIS
I love Scottie Barnes. I love everything he does," Rajakovic said. "Scottie Barnes is the reason our defense was so good and improving this season because Scottie Barnes puts so much into it... Scottie Barnes is a leader of our group." Although the Raptors dialed him back towards the end of the season once playoffs were out of the question, Barnes had a solid regular season with 19.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks over 32.8 minutes per game across 65 appearances.
